Fedor Emelianenko will next compete in June in his home country of Russia against an as of yet unnamed opponent, but a new contender has entered the fray.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and student of legendary trainer Renzo Gracie, Rolles Gracie is now under consideration for the bout with Emelianenko on June 21 in St. Petersburg.

While there is no deal in place at this time, Gracie is one of the leading candidates to potentially land the spot against the former pound-for-pound king later this year.

With a 6-1 record overall, Rolles Gracie may have far less experience in the cage than Emelianenko, it doesn’t mean he’s not a competitor who has show drastic improvements over the last year.

I wouldn't call Rolles Gracie a total can but c'mon, the guy lost to Joey Beltran.

That may be true but beating all these chumps isn't proving anything.

What's he got to prove?

His job is to fight and that's what he is doing.

I'm sure if his rankings were important to him we would here something from him stating so.

Why continue fighting if he's just gonna crush cans tho???

Same reason why I get up for work.

Paycheck.

I'm not saying he is just fighting only for the paycheck. But he is good at what he does. He goes with the flow. Doesn't really care who he fights just fights who they put in front of him. Goes on to the next one. Doesn't matter win or lose. Doesn't make excuses. Just keeps fighting. If a big name is put in front of him he fights doesn't complain. If a no name gets put I'm front of him he doesn't care fights him as he would a big name. There is no discrimination.

He fights

At least Fador isn't in the WWF like Brocky boy (getting bitch-slapped by John Cena).

IMO Rolles is a kind of a joke. I really don't think he deserves to be in there with Fedor at all. I can't really think of any heavyweight not signed by the UFC that could be a challenge for Fedor or that he hasn't already fought.

He's making a hell of a lot more money to get guys to take dives against him than Fedor is lol

I still love a good Fedor fight.

He'll be a huge favorite, but if this hits the mat its anyone's game.

I have only seen Rolles Gracie in MMA once**, and from what I can tell I would not call him a can either. That would be an affront to cans everywhere.

**: Fights that include Bob Sapp herein do not apply to the standard definition of MMA.
