UFC president Dana White has likened Junior Dos Santos to Chuck Liddell, but has questioned whether the Brazilian has the necessary variety to cope with world class kickboxer Alistair Overeem at UFC 146.

Dos Santos is preparing for the first defence of his UFC heavyweight crown, having knocked out Cain Velasquez in 64 seconds to take the belt. The Brazilian's hands are the best in his weight class, but Overeem should hold the edge when it comes to other facets of striking, such as kicks and knees.

Liddell was arguably the most devastating light-heavyweight the UFC has seen and White sees plenty of parallels with Dos Santos, which could spell bad news for Overeem, who was knocked out by Liddell back in 2003.

"For me, the question is how is Dos Santos going to deal with the kicks and the knees and the elbows?" White was quoted as saying by MMAWeekly.

He deals with it by punching Overeem in the face

For me, this being a heavyweight fight is the variable that takes it down from a 80/20 to a 65/35 for Junior. Out of every division, HW is the one where a well placed punch can trump style advantage the most.

I'll never forget Irvin v. Alexander.

JDS is a very smart and very tactical fighter. I think he should be able to neutralize AO's game plan and best weaponry. JDS is no fumbling shaved circus bear like Brock Lesnar. AO may blow his wad, get outworked and get "ktfo". I hope so anyhow. I wouldn't really want to see AO as the UFC HW Champ. No sir.

He's only 31 and hasn't lost since 2007, what makes you say he's on his way out of fighting?

The toll of gaining 60 pounds, shedding 20 of them after seeing how slowed down he bacame, and the early weight cutting he did for so many years.

I think he has a couple years maximum in his current form. Beside that, ask the question, how long do most fighters primes last? He has been prime for 4 or so years already.

But... you're forgetting the possible TRT exemption! That could very well extend his prime another 5 years beyond the point where he naturally would start to fade.

However, at 31 i don't think he's been in his prime for 4 years already. Man strength on average stops filling in naturally at 29, And considering his Above-Average genetics, he could very well be at the far end of the bell curve.

Never considered TRT.
