One of Brazil's hottest young prospects will return to UFC action this June, as Erick Silva has agreed to face Charlie Brenneman in a welterweight bout at UFC on FX 3 according to a report from Globo SporTV:
The UFC has not yet announced it officially, but the next opponent for Erick Silva is already defined. SPORTV.COM has been informed by sources close to the organization that he will face the American Charlie Brenneman, on a June 8th event in the United States - the city has not yet been chosen. The expectation of Erick was to fight again in Brazil at UFC 147, but he himself has announced via Twitter that he will fight on the American event.

Damn, tough fight for Silva. We'll really get an idea of what his TDD is like now.

lol I'm leaning that way too cuz we don't know what Silva's TDD is like yet but Brenneman is susceptible to being knocked out so SIlva could definitely pull it off.

its not about if Brenneman can take him down, but when he does can Silva threaten from the bottom and escape or even sweep him? And he is susceptible to being KO'd by bigger stronger fighters. Silva is tiny and doesn't have the power Hendricks and Rumble have...it would have to be a constant barrage of strikes for Silva to KO Brenneman.

He might be smaller than those guys but that doesn't mean he can't (T)KO Brenneman...his speed makes up for that...plus Brenneman isn't a big WW either.

I never said he couldn't, it just wont be a 1-punch knockdown like Hendricks and Rumble are able to do. He would have to Diaz a TKO...and he only has 3 TKOs in his career - he is a submission guy. Brenneman isn't a big WW, you're right, but he is bigger than Silva and him having a strong wrestling base it gives him a much bigger advantage. I don't know what Silva is like off his back but I've seen Brenneman's smothering top game
