Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez (20-2 MMA, 10-1 SF) will fight at the organization's recently announced May 19 event.
Against whom? That's a good question.
However, one of Melendez's coaches, Cesar Gracie, has two suggestions: current UFC fighters B.J. Penn or Anthony Pettis.
However, multiple sources told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) no opponent has been determined as of yet. Additionally, the champ's manager, Gil Melendez Sr., declined comment. But today on Twitter, Gracie stated, "I hope (it's) Penn or Pettis."

I hope it's one of them too. That would be awesome. I doubt it'll be Pettis but Penn could be a possibility.

I doubt it happens. For one no contract with strikeforce and two. I doubt either one wants to be a second tier champ to Ufc. They want the best and are in the Ufc for a reason.

3 days ago now it was revealed that Melendez would fight May 19th, but not against Josh. Cesar is throwing out names he hopes it will be, but Gilbert told MiddleEasy.com 3 days ago he already knew who his opponent was. Cesar must have been told to pretend he doesn't know, and Gilbert just told not to say who it is.
