Since the day it was announced that Zuffa was purchasing Strikeforce, their relationship with the UFC has been an odd one. Are they competitors? Are they business entities designed to help each other? Are they simply undefinable relatives?

When UFC president Dana White appeared on a Strikeforce broadcast earlier this year, it was an odd moment but seemed to signify that he was taking a much deeper interest in the promotion. He said as much, claiming that he was going to look to get more control over Strikeforce with production, something he admits he's a bit obsessive about.

That apparently was nothing more than a pipe dream as on Saturday, White responded to a fan on Twitter about his role in the world's No. 2 fight promotion:

i agree with the commentators comment. I have a really tough time listening to Renallo or Shamrock.

Ranallo's issue is that he gravitates between straight man and color commentator. Some folks like it (PRIDE NEVER DIE), but it definitely defies the normal setup.

Shamrock's crazy on the mic. There's, like, no shame in that game. Sometimes he says something that's really insightful, but he tends to get into arguments with calmer commentators, especially ones who are educated in technique. He can generally work okay with Pat Miletich, for example, but you definitely see some clashes there.

Guess Showtime wasn't as cooperative as Dana hoped they would be.

I don't feel the need to create a new thread, since it's the same topic, but here's a little insight into why he was so fumed:

"I never thought I'd say this, but I'm really excited for that fight," White told MMAjunkie.com this past month. "I'm really excited."

White was so excited, he was actually supposed to attend the event in Columbus, Ohio, rather than the previous night's "UFC on FX 2: Alves vs. Kampmann" card in Australia.

But at the last minute, things changed. According to White, new Showtime boss Stephen Espinoza decided maybe not all of the changes the UFC boss proposed would find their way into the event.

And, White said, he didn't have the courtesy to even make a direct call, instead preferring contact with fellow Zuffa exec Pete Dropick.

"I almost missed the first UFC fight in 11 years, and then I get the phone call from Pete Dropick when I'm in Japan," White said. "'Yeah, listen, they're not going to change pretty much any of the stuff you wanted.' So I said, '[Expletive] them.'

You can read the entire Junkie article here.

Of course, they aren't going to give us the specific details on what changes there might be. Lame

If I was Dana, I think i'd rather be at the Alves/Kampmann card over SF.

I'll believe it when I see it. I remember when Dana said he wouldnt get involved or appear at a SF event when the buyout happened
