A previously announced featherweight bout between Dustin Poirier (12-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) and Chan Sung Jung (12-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will now headline May's UFC on FUEL TV 3 event.

Officials today announced the bout as a five-round main event.

The winner "is expected to emerge as a challenger to the UFC 145-pound title currently held by Brazilian star Jose Aldo," according to the release.

UFC on FUEL TV 3 takes place May 15 at Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. The event's main card airs live on FUEL TV while preliminary-card fights are expected to stream on Facebook. The UFC recently announced a number of fights for the card, including main-card bouts of lightweights Jeremy Stephens (20-7 MMA, 7-6 UFC) vs. Donald Cerrone (17-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and bantamweights Mike Easton (12-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) vs. Yves Jabouin (17-7 MMA, 2-1 UFC).

I suspect this is in place to keep the options open for Edgar to move down for a title shot. At this point I wouldn't really be in favor of Jung getting a title shot, but if he beats Poirier, I really can't think of anyone else who can fill that position. Personally I would love to see Grispi find himself again and go on a serious tear, but otherwise, FW is starting to look pretty open.

Maybe the #2 ranked FW Hatsu Hioki????

He may not have many wins under the UFC banner, but has been impressive before he came over, with only one loss in his past 12 fights.

I think Hioki should get the next shot at Aldo.

I'm excited for this fight, but I can't get behind either of these guys fighting for the title. Neither would give Aldo much trouble IMO.

Hioki should get the next shot because he's most likely going to be ready before either of those two.

I hate that Koch was injured for his fight with Poirier. I would consider him already ready if he fought and beat Koch instead of Hollaway. It's hard to sell a title shot with a guy coming off a win over someone who was only 4-0 in the sport. A win over the Korean Zombie would be more than enough though imo, if Hioki or Edgar doesn't fight Aldo first.

I hope they give Hioki the shot next, I have a hard time believing that Edgar will move down to 145, and im hoping for Koch to fight Lamas, and then there really is no one else for Hioki to fight at 145 in the title picture.

I think Hioki should get the next shot after how he looked against Palaszewski, but another thing came to mind - if Poirier wins he gets the shot but if the Korean Zombie wins then Hioki gets the shot
