Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is putting together a lightweight fight between Paul Sass and Jacob Volkmann, who are expected to collide at the upcoming UFC 146 pay-per-view (PPV) event on May 26, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fighters Only brought word of the pending match-up earlier today.

Sass is perfect through 12 fights in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, one that includes a staggering 11 finishes by way of submission. With eight of those taps resulting from triangle chokes, it should come as no surprise that his combat sport nickname is "Sassangle."

But will he be sassy enough to survive an early "Christmas?"

Dear Paul Sass,

Please choke out Volkmann. I will forever be a fan if you do

Sincerely,
Bubbles

Much more a fan of Volkmann's standup (comedy) than his fight game. He needs to win so I can be barraged with something so funny, it makes The Other Guys look unfunny.
I want to see what Sass has going on, but judging by Volkmann's strengths and fight style I would pick him for the UD.

I also see this. Volkmann will grind the decision.

Well, we couldn't get Maia-Palhares, but I am very excited for this fight! I expect a supreme grappling showcase at 155.

I really don't have a dog in this fight, but I like both fighters. They have different styles, but both Volkmann and Sass are tremendously gifted in their disciplines.

I can't make a prediction just yet, but one would think Vegas will be favoring Volkmann. The ground may not be a place Volkmann wants to spend 15 minutes with Sass, though....

Fantastic matchmaking on Joe Silva's part.

Slowly not getting enough recongition volkman has been unstoppable at lightweight. I think Xmas will grind out another fighter and start being called a contender

I cringe at the thought.

I to think Volkmans will take this one via decision. If he wins again, they will have to give him a top ten or low teens ranked fighter. Maybe he could welcome Diego Sanchez back to lightweight with a win. Otherwise I would also like to see a Christmas vs Guida fight.

Given how close Escudero came to submitting him, I think 15 minutes might be an awful long time to be rolling with Sass. I don't even know if he's going to want to try to hold him down like he does with everyone else or if he might try his standup in this fight.

Not getting enough recognition? You're serious? I know you won't ever read this, but you do realize that the dude was in the national media spotlight for his comments to the POTUS. I'm pretty sure he's had more attention than he actually deserves at this point.
