Very true. Perhaps the add/drop scenario should be limited to only cuts and extended layoffs (injury or suspension)

I agree with the idea of penalizing someone from dropping a fighter, but I dont agree with penalizing people for trading. 5 points should work fine
imo 18 fighters per roster is too large and the draft will take a lot longer than desired. In Rabi's pro wrestling side game, there were 8 people and 10 wrestlers per roster...it took 13 days to complete the draft of 80 picks...currently you have 252 picks. UFC Japan is in 13 days - imo that is quite the stretch to get it done by then. March 3 (UFC on FX 2: Alves vs Kampmann) is more realistic to get this started if you wanna keep the large roster. I have no problem with this size, but I know you want to get this started asap and I am pretty confident that we wont get it done in time for 144

Yeah we went by division for my draft, 7 players and 7 weight classes meant that everyone got a first pick in one class and we did 3 fighters for every class, except only for BW and FW.
Perhaps with 14 players, it would pay to do it by division with two picks per and a rotating order. The following would essentially cut the length of the draft time in half:
For example Player 1 picks first at HW, then Player 2 for HW, and then Player 3 makes what would be the 3rd pick at HW and the 1st at LHW and so on until the two divisions are complete through 2 rounds of 14 players picks. Then Player 5 would start MW, and upon Player 7s turn they would also start WW.
It ends up being a very fair draft this way as well and with trades you could make the rule that trading starts after completion of the entire draft and if agreed upon we could say that you must maintain 1 fighter in each division

In the interest of saving time let's cut it down to 14 fighters per player. I don't want to cut it down much more because if we need to have 1 fighter per weight class minimum, each player is already cut to 7 free picks. I'll PM everyone and let them know the draft is starting. This will be a snake draft and using my sophisticated methods (small pieces of paper) I will randomly pick the order. Max 4 fighters ina weight class, though I would be surprised if anyone tested this one. Like you said bubbles, I want to get this moving so we can make adjustments as we go. If it happens that we miss Bendo vs Edgar, so be it. It's not like we're really on the clock, if the game sucks then we'll can it early. No trading penalties, as I don't see the point unless later on it turns out everyone is working together or something. Draft/drop penalties still apply. Until someone notices something else wrong, we'll just continue as we are. Draft choices can be any weight class.
