At the post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White said he was open to the possibility of a rematch, but made it clear that both parties had to be eager to fight. As Diaz was so maddened by the decision that he announced his retirement immediately post-bout in the Octagon, and because yesterday Condit's camp indicated they were not interested, there was little hope that the rematch would be made.
However, sources close to the deal just confirmed with The Underground that Carlos Condit has accepted a rematch with Nick Diaz, with the UFC Interim Welterweight title again on the line.

I hope we can get a definitive result from this one. Everyone who watches mma has an opinion about this fight and it seems to be pretty split. I'd like to see BOTH men come in with different game plans. Diaz is lucky to get this opportunity now let's see him learn from the first fight. If he doesn't learn from that, he's already lost. I'm excited to say the least.
Also, big props to Condit. This is why he's one of my favourite fighters. It might not seem like he is from my opinion on the last fight but I want to see him do well. He's been one of my favourites for a long time.

'Eh.
Usually I hate the idea of immediate rematches, but with St. Pierre out, the UFC has to find somebody to pull some numbers against Condit.

I have warned a few members before for playing with my emotions. I hope this is not a joke. I saw the link and Dana's tweet but I am still somewhat skeptic.
And if it is true, I think Condit is foolish.

Before anyone jumps on me, I like to make myself clear.
First and foremost, I feel if Condit is to defend the title against anyone other than GSP, Condit and his opponent should be fighting for the official welter weight title and not the interim title.
Secondly, Condit is a warrior for accepting this rematch with Diaz.
And finally, I feel Condit has worked hard to be where he is right now. He was screwed out of a title fight against GSP before and I don't want him to screw himself again. I truly feel he is heroic but very foolish for taking this rematch against Diaz.

Hopefully the second meeting between Condit & Diaz ends Definitively to end all the controversy. If Diaz can't come up with a better gameplan than talking crap and slapping Condits face than he's done. I'd love to see it hit the ground more also in the second fight.

Although I don't agree that he was screwed out of a title shot (Since he was given it only because Dana pulled Diaz from the fight) I can see where you're coming from.

I really didn't want to see this, Carlos won a close fight, doesn't mean we need a rematch. Carlos does the same thing and wins again in this.

I'm not a diaz nor am I a condit fan... but honestly i don't get why people a so butt hurt about the decision. Condit outstruck diaz for the whole fight, took less damage, had a better gameplan.
Explain to me how running away from an opponent transfers into outstriking him and then i'll jump on board with the bad ud.
Furthermore, this is MMA, not boxing or a mindless street brawl. So diaz can whine all he wants, condit was simply the better man that night, followed his gameplan and handed a big fat L to diaz fair and square.
The rematch to me seems pretty pointless but hey, it'll probly make alot of money so on with the show!
