ooooh...that's a hell of a fight!

I'd say Weidman could submit a vast majority of the UFC Middleweights....Needless to say Demian Maia doesn't fall into that category.

I'd give a slight edge to Maia...He's been improving alot with his stand-up, and I'd say he has a slight edge over Weidman there. If Weidman is on top when they are on the ground he may have a chance, but why the hell would you take Maia down?

I give the early edge to Maia here

Very interesting. Maia recently lost to Munoz, but Weidman has never even faced a BJJ black belt, let alone Maia. Should be fun to watch.

I like both new matchups better than the original 2 set for UFC on FOX 2.

A lot of people will be bummed that Palhares isn't taking the fight.

Huge opportunity for Weidman though. We all know he has the wrestling to take down Maia, but will Maia's BJJ be to much for him? Weidman himself is a purple belt, but Maia is right at the top in BJJ in the MW division. On the feet it's close, we seen Weidman display some decent stand up, and Maia's has improved. Not sure who I'm taking at the moment.

Rumors circulating that Paul Harris was already celebrating a win over Maia just prior to the announcement that Weidman would be the one facing Maia.

I'm going to have to consult with the Stats by Event to make my pick.

I want to take Weidman, but on like 10 days notice and still inexperienced in mma, he's a wrestler going against one of the top ground fighters.

Or the two could just stand and trade for 3 rounds.

If Palhares couldn't do it, this is the next best thing. Weidman is a fuckin champ. Glad to see him take such a large step up in competition and on 10 days notice. It'll be a tough fight for him though.

I LOVE THIS MATCH
Weidman is a BEAST & a win over Maia will make him a new force in the middleweight pool. I think this is a tougher challenge for Maia then Bisping was. Cant wait

Tough fight for Weidman, but he could pull it off.

I was really hoping to see Palhares take this fight. Tbh I like Weidman a lot, but this seems like a terrible matchup to me. I think it''l be a boring, clear-cut win for Maia. I'm going to this event live so hopefully that's not the case.

I gotta take Weidman, he's the future of the division and this will be his coming out party.

Great matchup, big step up in competition for Weidman but I think he'll be able to hold his own against Maia.
