Anthony Johnson's manager explains what happened to his client for the UFC 142 weigh-ins, and promises that the fight with Vitor Belfort will still happen on Saturday night.

if medical reasons kept him from making this cut, what's to keep them from not making the next one?

imho, he needs to be at 205, win or lose, after this fight if his body is reacting this way to the cut

He will have to. But as long as Vitor agrees to keep the catchweight fight tomorrow (which he's done before) then everything should be alright.

So his management says he was 187.5 3 hours before weigh-ins. Any UFC personnel or medical staff on hand to confirm this?

I don't know if I can honestly believe that. Might be true but right now I don't believe it.

Yeah, at this point any comments from his management are most likely damage control. I'd need to hear anything like this from the UFC or medical staff or it's just as much news as any comment Scott Boras makes.

So, is the excuse for his body shutting down, the travel? How can he cut down to 170, but this time he can't make 185??

If her were cutting to 170, it would be a 3-4 day process of just cutting the weight. That's not including the diet for the 2 weeks beforehand. The way it sounded to me he woke up in good shape and only needed to cut a few pounds, but when he started to cut he got extremely dehydrated so they called the doc who gave him fluids which is the absolute worst thing he could do in regards to making weight. I think 185 is waaaay more interesting for him than 205, but I would say he should manage the weight cut better overall.

Sooo... they gave him 10 lbs of fluids? Seems a little excessive, no?

Good for his manager for spinning it well, but based on other reports it seems like Dana and Vitor were still upset about it just before the weigh-ins.

It'll be interesting to see if he makes 205lbs tomorrow.

Is it possible that since Johnson has been on Dana's bad side a few times for not making weight, that he decided that since he wasn't close to 185, he would just call in the doctors and say he wasn't feeling good? I'm not trying to suggest anything here, that's just what popped in my head at first

I'm wondering if he even tried to cut weight today. Even his manager said he only cut 4 pounds, and I'd assume his manager would exaggerate (especially after the fan reaction to the weigh-in) since there's no way to prove it wrong.
