Papy Abedi is scheduled to meet James Head in a welterweight bout at the UFC's debut in Sweden on April 14, MMAFighting.com has confirmed with sources close to the fight.

Abedi's involvement on the card is an obvious one, considering he currently fights out of Stockholm, Sweden. Abedi grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo, France and Belgium before moving to Sweden in 1997. The 33-year-old lost his Octagon debut to Thiago Alves via first-round rear-naked choke at UFC 138 in November. The loss marked Abedi's first in nine professional MMA bouts (8-1).

The fight will mark Head's first at 170 pounds since signing with the UFC last year. The 7-2 Head dropped his Octagon debut to Nick Ring at UFC 131. He was supposed to fight John Maguire at UFC 138 but an injury forced him to pull out of the bout.

Geography has never been my strong point. How far are you from Sweden? That'd be really great to witness. The arena looks incredible.

London To Stockholm (the capital of Sweden/Arena) is around 2:30 hours by plane (I think) by plane

So for you Budgell its kinda the equivelent of going from Ontario to Wisconsin on a plane

But in terms of distance its Near 900 Miles... or 1400km (not sure what you use) so that's Ontario to Kansas approximately

Europeans can go pretty much anywhere in Europe for almost no money because the entire continent is like half the size of the US. It's like travelling to another state if you live in the US.

Meanwhile if I wanted to go to the states it would cost me like a thousand dollars just to make it across the border.

Whilst the second statement is true.... It's not next to nothing, but it probably is cheaper

Well, next to nothing relative to what I have to pay for flights is what I really mean by that. I'm sure it's still a couple hundred pounds or whatever to get from one end of Europe to another, which isn't nothing, but compared to what I have to pay for flights here in Canada, it seems like nothing.

Los Angeles, CA to Casper, Wyoming.

Los Angeles, CA to Sinaloa, Mexico (fuck that)

Los Angeles, CA to Pullman, Washington (Home of Washington State University)

Looks like a regular playground party then. I expect Head to win, from his last fight it looks like putting Abedi on his back is an easy way to GnP to a victory. It looked to me like he gave up his back so that he could be choked out instead of hit anymore.

Have you guys noticed the ufc is putting on great fights? I get the feeling Joe Silva is working with an intern who actually knows what he is doing. The match ups recently have been more carefully put together IMO and this fight is another one of those.

Great job, Mr. Intern.
