Nate Diaz put on quite possibly the best performance of his career last night (Dec. 30, 2011) at UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem, defeating Donald Cerrone via unanimous decision after three rounds thanks to relentless, laser-like striking.

How precise? Accurate enough to set a CompuStrike record for a three round mixed martial arts (MMA) fight.

Diaz landed an astounding 82 percent of his strikes, connecting on 258 out of 314 punches. After plenty of pre-fight trash talk from both competitors, the fight, unsurprisingly, never hit the ground for the entire 15 minutes. On the contrary, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt under Cesar Gracie -- who displayed improved boxing in his submission victory over Takanori Gomi at UFC 135 -- took his striking to a whole new level in his dominant UFC 141 win over "Cowboy.

Diaz brothers set back to back CompuStrike records for output and accuracy.

Don't have to like em as people, but man are they fun to watch as fighters.

Unfortunately, Cerrone was a standing punching bag. Diaz has great accuracy but doesn't have a lot of intensity behind those punches or he would have dropped him and it never went to the ground. And Cerrone has a great chin, gotta give him that.

Very impressive. I'm not a fan of Nick, but I like Nate. He seems a tad more respectful than his brother. I know that's not saying much, but watch his post fight press conference. He apologized for the hat flip, and said all the antics were for the show.

Agreed. I don't like how they handle themselves outside the octagon, but hey, it's MMA, not popularity contest (for the most part.)

WoW! 82% of his strikes landed, and 258 punches landing, that's crazy! Cerrone must have one hard head.

sounds like diaz is seriously lacking punching power. he looked good against a sluggish cerrone, and now everyone thinks he deserves a title shot? i think guida, bendo, Maynard, florian, j-lau, sotiropoulis and stout would beat diaz. i think hes at least 2 fights away from a title shot

I think the first 4 you said would, but J-Lau, Sotir and Stout I dont think they would beat Diaz.

Nonsense. He made Cerrone look sluggish.

I knew he threw a lot of punches but damn. Didn't help that Cerrone was just standing there letting him Tee off. At one point I looked at my buddy and said "is it just me or does Cerrone look like Nate Quarry". He literally looked like Quarry in his fight against Franklin. After he would get tagged, he'd start bouncing for a second then right back to flat footed.
