A welterweight bout between Matt Brown (12-11 MMA, 5-5 UFC) and Chris Cope (5-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has been added to February's UFC 143 event.
UFC officials today announced that verbal agreements are in place for the fight.
UFC 143 takes place on the eve of the NFL's Super Bowl, Feb. 4, at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
The night's main card airs on pay-per-view. However, Brown vs. Cope is expected to be part of the preliminary card, which is expected to air on FX.

...and not a whole lot faster than Cope's UFC career which will likely come to an end shortly thereafter...

I see this fight looking a lot like Brown's fight with Pete Sell. Matt Brown is just way ahead of this guy.

I'm amazed that Brown wasn't cut after his last fight. 4 losses in 5 fights and he's still in the UFC, I can't think of too many fighters who would still be around with a record like that and a ranking like his. If you're fighting guys in the top 10 it could be understandable, but losing to guys like Baczynski and Foster usually you're gone after 2 maybe 3 losses at most.
I guess he is pretty much guaranteed to put on an exciting fight so maybe that's why he gets more leeway.

Yep. I'd rather see him fight, than an Elliot Marshall fight.
