I can understand Dana's logic for how he handled Griffin, but the fact that Davis went to Penn and Rashad went to Michigan is no excuse for what he said. He made a comment about a serious offense that probably ruined all the victims lives. His comments are way worse than Torres'.

Every UFC fighter on twitter should retweet or tweet what torres posted.

All mma fans should boycott UFC 140. Don't buy it or go to the bar. The loss of major $$$ is the only thing that gets Dana to change his opinion. Obviously you can't boycott UFC 141 because missing Lesnar vs. Overeem would be insane.

I have a problem with the way the UFC can just "Release" fighters at will. Don't these fighters sign contracts? Fighters need a union to protect themselves from this sort of abuse.

i got railed for saying this a couple of months ago. union's dont have the best reps, but union's of this nature are necessary

Rashad's response and then subsequent reason were both ridiculous. I found them to be way more offensive than Torres' tweet.
That said, both should not have been said and both should have had a discussion about how dumb they were.

Anyone else believe that if Rashad would've tweeted the "rape van" joke he would of been fired? I don't.

Great job, Dana. A lot of posters should take note and apply the same mentality when posting.

I think Torres will be back. He's a good guy who told a joke in very poor taste, but who here has never told an offensive joke? I think people need to lighten up a little. There are real issues in the world to get upset about, but this is not one of them.

I hate to be over-generalizing, and this may make me sound just as bad as them, but anybody who disagrees with Dana White's decision is just as clueless as Torres himself. If any player from any major sports league did this, it would be all over ESPN and major news outlets. I too think Torres will be back, but this punishment is completely deserved and the precedent has been set.

I would understand a fine perhaps - but breaking a fighters contract is unacceptable. What is the point of even signing a contract if Dana White can fire you at the wave of his hand? Contracts are supposed to be binding agreements that commit fighters to an organization for a specific amount of time/fights or what have you and are meant to protect both fighter and promotion. It's supposed to guarantee a fighter a certain amount of fights and guarantee the promotion that their fighter won't skip out and fight for another organization. Under no circumstance should Dana White have the ability to break a contract, especially over something as trivial as an offensive joke.

I'm not arguing the punishment. I'm arguing the double standard. Rashad and Forrest went unpunished for basically the same offense. However, they're main eventers and TUF champs so they're being treated differently because Dana "understood" their explanations.

Actually, instead of boycotting it, we should all watch it on an illegal stream.

This reminds me of the firing scene from "Waiting".

Randy Couture would be a fairly good rep
