Bellator Fighting Championships has decided that going head-to-head with the UFC is a losing battle.
The No. 2 MMA promotion in America announced that starting with its sixth season in the spring, Bellator's live fights will air on MTV2 on Friday nights. The first Bellator show of Season 6 will take place on March 2, and having the event on a Friday ensures that it won't take place simultaneously with a UFC pay-per-view, as Bellator often did this year.
However, the decision to move to Fridays may still mean going head-to-head with the UFC, as The Ultimate Fighter will move to a live format with fights on Friday nights on FX next year, and the UFC may also run some Fight Night-level shows on FX or Fuel TV on Friday nights.

I don't understand why not move it to Thrus. nights? The only thing they would have to compete with is NFL football a 2 months out of the year.

I like this move. Nothing is on Friday nights. The boxing die hards who would rather watch an 8-0 boxer fight a 7-8 boxer on Friday Night Fights will probably never watch MMA, so fuck them.
I like this move for current MMA fans. Sometimes Bellator gets ruined for me when I DVR it. I am a fan, but watching their promotion after watching a full 10-12 fight UFC card is generally anti-climactic.

Bellator used to be on thursday nights.
I like the move. I won't have to duel record UFC/Bellator on saturday nights.
Bellator now only have to compete with the TUF live fights on friday as oppose to UFC events.

Bars near you show Bellator events? Around here its hard enough to get them to put on UFC events when they start due to them overlapping hockey sometimes. Bellator wouldn't stand a chance during hockey season up here.

there is generally a tv always on The Score at most sports bars, unless the Maple Laughs are playing

Agreed. I've ruined Bellator fights for myself several times because I'm all mma'd out after the ufc events. Friday nights when I get home I'm usually looking for something to watch so this is perfect.
