MMA fans were treated to something special when Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua met in the main event of UFC 139. Both men had moments where it appeared they were about to be finished, but displayed incredible courage in continuing to fight until the final bell.

It was one of the best fights in MMA history, and Shogun wants to do it again. Via UOL Esporte (translation via Tom Mendes)

YES!..there needs to be a rematch asap..imho, that fight was a draw..but the judges dont like Shogun for some odd reason..they gave the decision to Machida, and now to Hendo..but just like the Machida rematch, Shogun will come out stronger in the Hendo rematch, if it happens..i can only hope..

A rematch is called for down the line.

But going by damage alone, Henderson won this fight.

I'm in agreement, bring on rounds 6-10 Could you imagine how that fight would have gone with pride rules

Me 2, I was hoping Shogun would win in the end, but he didnt, and than I scored it and realized it was a draw or a win for Rua, and a rematch is needed. Shogun will win if he fights smart next time. I think he got confident in his right hand and abandoned leg kicks or a game plan, his accuracy was off also.

but Hendo was the better man at the beginning, and Rua was better at the end

Hendo won the fight, but shogun won the war and should get another chance... or

Shogun has others he can fight in the meantime like Bader, Rampage, or the winner/loser of lil nog vs tito,

Franklin, Thiago -whenever he comes back. , phil davis Gustaffson.

Vera vs Rua makes sense too, because Rua should be considered a 2nd winner and replacement for Hendo, Machida or Evans in the get hurt before a title shot, but in terms of rankings, Rua has dropped to the top 6-10 best in LHW div.

Yes, Rua wouldve headstomped a tko after the 10 min first was over.

I say Hendo Jones and Rua Bader followed by a rematch.

I'm a little torn on this one, but am leaning towards against a rematch for the following reasons:

1) The fight was epic. An all time classic. I dont see how the rematch could ever come close to living up to the expectations and could end up dissapointing everyone. In a weird way it would be nice to remember that fight the way it was without tainting by having a rematch, or if Shogun wins, making it a trilogy.

2) Hendo is 41. He wont be around for ever and who knows how long he can still fight at this level. He deserves a shot a the title. Also, there are too many good fights for Hendo that we have yet to see, including Jones, Evens, Machida.

That said, I would be excited for a rematch, but not until Hendo gets the title from Jones.

Rhythm, I like your style, but dude..... I have to seriously question what's going on if you want to compare Machida-Shogun 1 to this fight. If Shogun had been given the win, it would have been like Machida-Shogun 1 because the wrong person would have been given the decision. Even scoring that fight as a draw is questionable to me.

Our bias is made very obvious by our avatars, but I don't see how anyone can say that was a draw, let alone a Shogun win. Shogun got shit stomped for the majority of that fight, and was closer to being finished, on a couple of occasions, than Hendo ever was.

And I forgot where the Pride rules came in, but that's a joke. All Pride rules would have done would be to ensure a Hendo first round KO, as that massacre never would have stopped.

Don't do it. The rematch could never live up to the first fight. Both men gave everything that had.

I'd buy 10 straight PPV's to see 10 straight fights between Shogun and Hendo.

if you are to give Shogun a 10-8 round for the 5th, than the 3rd round was also a 10-8, thus still giving Hendo the win.

i too would like to see a rematch, but not right away. to close the next calendar year is a perfect time imo

The whole time I was thinking why shogun couldn't fight like that with jones
I would rather see
Henderson vs say a thiago silva or evans
And shogun vs rampage
