UFC president Dana White on Saturday night confirmed that Faber's UFC 139 win over Brian Bowles was indeed enough to earn "The California Kid" a quick rematch with UFC bantamweight champion Cruz.
Cruz, of course, defeated Faber in the main event of July's UFC 132 event. However, Faber remains the only man to have ever beaten Cruz after downing the then-featherweight in a March 2007 contest under the WEC banner.
"He's in," White said of Faber. "I think Urijah looked good tonight."

Barao should be next.
We just saw Faber/Cruz 2, 1 fight ago for both guys. No real interest in seeing that 3rd fight so soon.

Faber looked great last night. I think he will be the next champ. Cruz could not put together a great outing like he did in the Jorg fight, in which he earned the UFC strap along with the last WEC belt. I thought Faber won the first fight, but I was rooting for Cruz, and than I realized Cruz didnt get much done, and Faber got more damage done, but had less output, in the post fight press conference Faber was claiming Cruz didn't win, and has revenge on his mind.

I agree, I wanted a new fight until I saw how much Faber improved, and the fact that Cruz didnt hurt Faber, and won because he was coming foward and recovering quickly. This time it will be rd. 6, and should be a war, because Uriah's striking and all around game was great last night. besides Bowels, the only choice is Miguel Torres, and I think he needs another fight, and show that he can still put on a great show like he used to.
I think Barao needs more exposure, but he is very talented.

Faber vs Cruz is getting old I agree but who else on the roster can even touch the Dominator? I thought Bowles ..but after lastnights big show choke I guess not. Dana & JoeSilva have to start scowering the globe for more bantamweight talent before we're watching Faber vs Cruz 8

This. Faber looked so damn good last night, it's hard to justify not giving him another shot.

My buddy and I were just talking last night about Faber always getting title shots after 1 win. Zuffa REALLY wants Faber as their poster child for the lower weights. Me personally, I think Faber looked great last night manhandling Marky-Mark, but I have little interested when it comes to Faber getting ANOTHER title shot, at least this soon

If this is the main event, I will not buy the card out of protest.
I'm sick of all the special treatment Faber gets.

Since Tim and I have discussed this ad nauseam on our podcast, I will insert my own thoughts here.
Cruz really doesn't have much left for him. At some point it's going to be any combination of Benavidez, Bowles, and Faber. I'm sure people like Mighty Mouse and Barao will be sprinkled in there, but you'd better get used to Benavidez-Cruz 3, 4, & 5. Faber-Cruz 3, 4, & 5, and Bowles-Cruz 2 & 3.

I completely agree. Let's see Faber fight McDonald and Barao fight Cruz. That won't happen though so it'll probably be McDonald vs. Barao and Faber vs. Cruz

This, 100%. Either Barao is next for Faber, or Barao is next for Cruz. If the former, I'm not sure who Cruz would fight next, but maybe it wouldn't matter. It could serve as a placeholder for setting up the drama of either "Wow" Barao getting a shot or the rubber match (though even after Barao I'd be somewhat bored with the prospect of Cruz-Faber 3).
This is the result of growing pains. Until the rosters for the lower weight classes get some depth, we're going to have this problem.

I love how people are willing to consider Faber for another title shot but not Florian or even Fitch.
Faber would need to rack up another 5-8 wins for me to want to see him fight for a title.

Florian got a FW title shot after 1 win. he is now 0-3 in title fights
Fitch routinely gets screwed because he doesnt have much of a fan base and WW is far deeper than BW and FW. i agree he should have had another shot already.
there really is no logical choice outside of Faber. Barao is a virtual unknown but is the only other contender. Barao/Cruz will only be shown on a free card but probably wont get as much viewership as a Faber trilogy. which top 10 FW is able to cut to 145 and would make some sense to get a BW title fight?
