On the UFC on FOX 1 prelim card, Robert Peralta landed a combination on Mackens Semerzier, sending him to the canvas, and into his fifth loss in eleven fights. However, instant replay revealed that the combination included a head butt, one referee John McCarthy did not see.

Brian Butler-Au of SuckerPunch Entertainment has filed an appeal with the California State Athletic Commission.

Semerzier took the high road saying "I don't blame it on the referee. That stuff happens so fast. You have to see it on video to know what really happened. Once the video's played, everyone could see."

In addition to being understanding, Semerzier rightly wants a rematch.

After these comments my respect for peralta as a fighter have gone down. He for one shouldn't be acting like the fight only ended because of the follow up punches and secondly he shouldn't act like he already beat Mackens so no need for a rematch. I love what Mackens said after the fight about he was a man after the fight so robert should be one now. I hope they rematch & mackens wins.

Why would they be thrilled about a rematch?

I wasn't thrilled about the first fight.

But there needs to be a rematch, b/c the headbutt caused the ending of the fight. I know I wouldn't feel satisfied if I won like that.

Has Peralta ever heard of fighting on instinct? Many fighters get knocked silly whether from clean shots or incidental and keep fighting. I also wanna know what Peralta was talking about when he said he thought he caught him with a punch, that put him down and not the headbutt. Was it the little punch to Macken's chest or the swing and miss where his bicep grazzed Macken's head that he is talking about?

It also seems Peralta is oblivious to the fact that big John didn't see the headbutt, had he seen it, he wouldn't have been able to continue rain down the punches which lead to the stoppage.

I understand why they are unenthusiastic about the rematch, but damn. The replay clearly show the headbutt knocked Mack down. Be a man and handle your business. Win the fight legit.

He doesn't want a rematch because he was losing that fight and he will lose a rematch.

slight irony in Sucker Punch Entertainment filing a complaint about an illegal shot

Peralta had to have felt that headbutt.

"It's not like when we clashed heads it put him out," he continued. "He was still aware. It knocked him down. I took a big lump, too. But I was able to finish the fight."

That's from the article in the link.
