Anyone else think that this guy is a big fan of the phantom tap? I guess it could be a coincidence, but he seems to do a single tap whenever someone gets him in a tight hold. He could just be repositioning his hands, but I think that it is intentional. He did it against Dustin Neace, and it looked to me like he did it again against Dennis Bermudez.
What do people think of this? I don't really have a problem with it, if the ref doesn't stop the fight you shouldn't let go of the submission, but if he does it on purpose it's definitely an interesting tactic that a lot of people would call cheap or sneaky. Curious to see if anyone else has thought the same thing, or what they think about the phantom tap in general.

It's called the Brazilian Tap.
It sure looked like he did when he fought Neace. But the most recent fight it looked like he tapped for sure or at least went to sleep haha. I have to watch the fight again, I don't remember.

He's tapped 3 times in 2 fights and he's 1-1.
I'm sure he'll get a fight on the finale card though, he's got some good stand-up and has lots of time to improve his wrestling and hopefully break that bad habit as well

I though it was a bit of poetic justice that the camera lingered on his natural bald spot after he was choked out, given what he did to Caraway in his sleep.
No wonder he always wears that hat!

It definitely seemed to me like he tapped about 5 seconds after the choke was applied and he definitely tapped against Dustin.

There always has to be a camera hungry shit talking a-hole on TUF every year.. BUT yeah I thought he tapped right off the bat when he got caught in that guillotine. I actually think he legit tapped but Herb Dean was on the other side of the hold & didnt catch it. Man was I pleased to see him lose But i gotta feeling that wont be the last we see of him.. He'll be throwing bombs on the TUF finale for sure.

haha...I didn't catch that. I'll gladly watch that fight again .
I saw the phantom tap too. It's one of those things that you know everyone is going to talk about (again!) as soon as you see it.

Good call man. If he had a humble attitude to go with that power he would make the right relationships with the brass while gaining a fan base. That is the recipe for success in the UFC even if you lose a few fights. Look at Melvin Guillard and Chris Lytle. Exciting fighters. Not that Melvin is all that humble, lol.

Watching a guy get ragdolled and choked after phantom tapping so many times and acting really c*cky like he was the best in the show.. was more than satisfying. But like someone else mentioned, he will probably get a fight on the finale and be kept around if he wins that fight.
