Brock Lesnar has intimate knowledge of Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos. Velasquez took his belt, and Dos Santos coached opposite him as a future opponent on "The Ultimate Fighter 13."

While the one-hour broadcast of UFC on FOX won't give out a teaser for next week's UFC 139, the show will talk about an upcoming heavyweight title eliminator.

That's where Lesnar comes in. The former heavyweight champ fights Alistair Overeem at UFC 140, and the winner gets a shot at the winner of the UFC on FOX main event. That's where champ Velasquez makes his first title defense against Dos Santos.

UFC on FOX takes place Saturday at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The one-fight main card airs live on FOX while preliminary action streams on Facebook.

Not a fan of this at all, something I would have expected from Strikeforce. They could have found someone WAY better like Florian....shit, I would have taken Trigg over Brock. Bad move

So, a guy who potentially will be fighting the winner of this fight, wouldn't have good insight? A guy who's already trained for, and fought Cain Velasquez, and has been around JDS for a good bit? I know he's not necessarily a fan favorite, but I don't see where he won't have some good insight on the two fighters.

I'll be the first to give this the ole

Unless I read over it too quickly, they didn't really explain his exact role and how much air time he'll have.

I understand the ufc's reason for bringing in Brock but I doubt Brock has the mma language to give an insightful analysis whether it be about the fight at hand or his fight with Velasquez. Everything Brock could possibly think of or say can be said much better by Rogan. I think the ufc just wants a strong presence at the commentating booth to make this main event monumental. I can't think of any other justifiable reason for having Brock there other than to hype the fight itself and the future heavy weight title fight.

In essence, Lesnar's presence is what is important and not necessarily what he has to say.

I highly doubt they'll have him on during the fight, its likely part of the filler they'll need to fill the broadcast time left given their 1 hour timeslot and a max of 25 minutes of fighting.

Given that the only fight on the broadcast is between 2 guys he has knowledge of, why not have him on.

I've already seen BJ Penn give his thoughts on GSP vs Diaz, and Couture used to give his thoughts on fights all the time, the only difference here is Fox is going to air it instead of guys like Ariel.

Lets wait and see what it is before we react, if its just a quick interview for his thoughts on their fight, I think its a great idea, if they want him to commentate a fight then that's probably going too far.

Might as well throw in Don Frye while they're at it.

its not only whether he has insight with me, it also has to do with the fluidity of his speech. They have to be articulate and have a quick wit. Brock does not have the gift of gab and he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. I just think for their first show on FOX they need someone that can articulate all the finer points of the fight to fans that don't fully understand MMA, not just comment on the fighters. Florian or Mir also have far more experience doing these kinds of things and I just feel they would be better suited in this role

Lesnar = ratings (but him being apart of the boradcast team has more downsides than upsides)

You'd have thought the UFC would have learned their lesson with Brock by now. Brock is best seen and not heard. Hopefully we won't have another incident like the Lesner/Mir2 post fight tirade.
