It started off with a simple statement from Brendan Schaub, and has blossomed into something more. It's well known that Fabricio Werdum is looking to return to the UFC and he's apparently willing to grasp at any olive branch that might lead him there, no matter how small. After Schaub said Werdum would be an interesting opponent in an interview last week, Werdum responded on twitter today with a challenge:
@FabricioWerdum Fabricio Werdum @BrendanSchaub I'm ready for you, anytime, anywhere! @SpiderAnderson @kings_mma @wandfc @graciemag_br @TATAMEMAGAZINE @marco_goncalves Oct 25 via Twitter for iPhoneFavoriteRetweetReply
The fact that he included 67 other people in the tweet is a major indication that he's looking for some validation here.

This is a good fight for Werdum. I'd really like to see this go down.

Yes good fight for Werdum, not really for Schuab imo. He just got knocked out by a man not even in the top 10, albeit a legend but still, and now a possible fight against a guy even higher ranked ? Aren't you supossed to work your way back after a loss. Hes young no reason to rush him along.

Unless he has a lot of exposure in America from knocking out Cro Cop and now he can be a popularity springboard for Werdum.
He was losing to a shot Cro Cop and then got knocked out by a shot Big Nog. Big Nog doesnt generally take one head off with his punches.
The UFC knows he's not going anywhere soon.

IMO werdum shouldnt be anywhere near the top 10 HW's. i think hes better off in strikeforce. the current UFC HW's would eat him alive. schaub is a better matchup than people think. he could stuff werdums takedowns (because they arent very good) and beat him up on the feet. werdum would definetly submit him on the ground....if it goes there.
im not saying schaub is any good, im just saying werdum isnt as good as people think.

Dont forget Werdum has been koed before as well to a guy with a very similar skillset, although a little bit more established now. My estimate is that whoever can get the other to play his game will here, and with bjj not being the best way to get opponents to the ground, I think Schaub can steal a decision or possibly a later ko.

Honestly I'd take Schaub all day, the only possible way Werdum wins this is pulling another Fedor sub. People think Schaub may be overrated but Werdum wouldn't last to long again in the UFC imo

I would like to see this match up. I like Werdum, I think he deserves to be in the UFC and I think he will sub Schaub when they fight.
