According to a press release from Franklin’s representatives, “Ace” underwent surgery yesterday to repair the damage and things went successfully meaning the 37-year old is expected to make a full recovery. However, the rehabilitation process could take up to six months if not longer meaning Franklin won’t be ready to fight again until after the midway point of 2012.

“I spoke with Rich, he’s feeling great and as soon as the doctor gives him the go-ahead, he’s ready to start training again,” said manager JT Stewart. “If everything goes as expected, UFC fans could see (him) back in the Octagon in late summer.”

i saw that he tweeted about getting something drilled into the bone...kind of figured a long lay off would be following that type of procedure

Franklin has some bad luck when it comes to injuries. It seems like he gets some kind of injury everytime he fights

Until late summer? Damn man, the guy is 37. That's a long layoff to have when you're in your late 30s. I mean it's not like he has a lot of time left in the sport, it's unfortunate that he's had to go through another injury like this.

i get the feeling that franklin is near the end of his career, its obvious from his age, but i just think is closer than we think. to many injuries, not enough fights

If I was to guess, I would say the fight with Quarry ended in favor of Franklin being intact.

i think this could be a good set up for Tito vs Franklin on a late July or August card

Franklin never made it to my list of favorite fighters but I always liked. I think he should go back to the middle weight division. He still has a decent amount of fight left in him. Wouldn't it be awesome if he can make another run for the middle weight title?
