WASHINGTON, D.C. – UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz may have a next opponent on deck, but his timetable for a return remains a question mark.

Following a decisive decision victory over Demetrious Johnson in the headliner of Saturday's UFC on versus 6 event, UFC president Dana White shared some disappointing news.

Cruz suffered a broken hand in the fight, and he's set to undergo surgery.

Cruz made his second successful UFC title defense (and fourth straight defense overall when including WEC fights). His quick feet and smothering top game led him to a lopsided decision victory over a game Johnson. The fight took place at Washington, D.C.'s Verizon Center and aired live on Versus.

That would be pretty lame to see the trilogy of Cruz/Faber so soon. It's like they just fought. Then Cruz fought Johnson, Faber fights Bowles and then their third matchup? No, too soon.

Cruz has cleared out most of the contenders at 135, would like to see Torres get back in the mix and face Cruz for the title.

Yeah, I don't care about seeing Cruz/Faber 3 anytime soon.

Not only is Cruz vs Faber too soon, I personally don't care for it anymore.

The times have changed and the sport is slowly catching up to Faber. Once able to reign supreme with his athleticism is now a fighter who will have to learn how to fight all over again if he wants to remain in contention.

Personally, I hope Bowles knocks Faber's chin off.....I do NOT want to see Faber-Cruz III so soon.

Things would be different if I liked Cruz or if he finished fights, but I don't like him and he doesn't finish fights.

thats the worst part about the bantams. theres just not that many good matchups. there is some fun fights to watch but they are running out of fighters. ufc isnt getting any from strikeforce. he needs to start recruiting from other organizations.

THIS

I'd love to see how Cruz fights against an aggressive striker with an 8 inch reach advantage. I'm almost positive it becomes a grappling match because i can't see Cruz's stand-up working while facing a huge reach deficit.

i like Faber, but he needs 1 more win after beating Bowles (if he does) to deserve the shot.

They should give Renan Barao a number 1 contender fight if he defeats Pickett to give some variety

i agree. i love how torres and cruz match up. i also thought that torres was robbed in the decision between him and mighty mouse. sigh....

This right here. Thats why I wanted Johnson to win so they could rematch. Prime champ Torres would have the best style to beat Cruz since he was an aggressive striker with sick technique, he could easily chop Cruzs legs down. Only advantage cruz have is wrestling, but Torres use to be relentless as hell on the ground and would have subbed him.

This new torres is kinda hesistant but still thinks he creates alotta problems for Cruz. I'd like to see a Johnson rematch anyway to get Torres right back in line hopefully for after Bowles-Cruz too, since Bowles will knock fabers teeth in but probably get outhustled on the feet against Cruz again.
