With Nick Catone (9-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) out of the fight due to injury, UFC veteran and jiu-jisu ace Eric "Red" Schafer (12-5-2 MMA, 3-4 UFC) is returning to the UFC.
Middleweight Aaron Simpson (10-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) recently announced Schafer as his new opponent.
Featuring a pair of title fights in the evening's headlining contests, UFC 136 takes place Oct. 8 at Houston's Toyota Center.
The evening's main card airs on pay-per-view. Simpson vs. Schafer takes place on the evening's preliminary card.
UFC officials have not formally announced the change...

Good call. Eric's a gamer and starts fights strong, he looked good even in his losses to Bonnar and Bader who he won first rounds over.

You mean who he won rounds over, or first rounds over? Because from what I remember Bader lamped him pretty good in that first round, then Bader gassing in the second round is when Schafer was at his best in that fight.
Nonetheless, I actually liked the Catone/Simpson fight better than this. Nick Catone arguably defeated Mark Munoz and could have made this fight a taxing clinch battle. Eric Schafer doesnt quite do it in the wrestling department although his striking has improved. I think Simpson gets the UD here.. he should be able to clinch up and dirty box Schafer on the fence each round. Or could just take him down, Schafer has good ground technique but its not dynamic.
