Just hours after the UFC announced their inaugural event for FOX, the first bout has been announced as featherweights Dustin Poirier and Pablo Garza are set to meet.

UFC officials announced the new fight on Thursday.

Former WEC fighter Dustin Poirier makes his third appearance in the UFC since moving over the promotion and looks to keep his record flawless since dropping down to featherweight.

His last two fight have seen Poirier dominate former title contender Josh Grispi as well as pick up a tough win over British banger Jason Young.

Hoping to derail Poirier from another win will be fellow WEC transport Pablo Garza, who looks to add onto his exciting array of finishes of late...

Very solid fight. I like Poirier, but Garza has had some impressive wins.

Garza has been the first to do a few things now. I hope he wins here. I like his game. I'm probably going to pick Poirier though. He seems to be the better fighter overall.

Solid fight to start it out!

Garza is a lot like Oliviera in my opinion. He's very flashy, and when he wins it's impressive, but once he hits a certain level of competition he just can make that last push. Poirier will probably shut him down.

I really like this matchup, its great for both fighters but Poirier had looked great lately and I bet he'll take it by Decision

Just saw an article on mmamania and it was saying this fight night card will just be a preview kind of a thing.

It's just going to be an hour long special featuring two fights, and then a full prelim.

Also Nov.12 is the same night Manny Pacman is fighting.

Don't know why they would rush to put a card on or a preview card on the same night.

I just watched the press conference a couple of hours ago. It sounded like this card was gonna be the real deal...and being on Fox, rather than FX, means that it won't be a Fight Night. Besides, I'm pretty certain you wanna go big for your first event.

As far as the day it lands on, they seemed to shrug it off as just one of those things.

This will allow us to see how good Poirier really is in every area but takedown defense. On paper he's the better of the two on the feet, but who knows how he'll handle the reach deficit.

here's the link to the article link

Idk too much info to process.

But then what would be considered a full prelim card, like in terms of number of fights.

I think it would have been a much larger impact had they waited for a better date and better fight to make their Fox debut with. Can you imagine had they had the patience and then started their relationship with Fox on NYE with UFC 139...could have been spectacular!

I skimmed the link and it still seemed like a gray area without confirmation. Is this one of the two televised live or just part of that card that'll probably air on Facbook?
