Forgive me guys but IMO Melendez is only a notch or two above average. One can say he has defeated a few top contenders but a contradictory argument can be made as well. This is a gray area and I am not going to entertain the thought...
But anyway, your opinions have been noted and I will eat my words if and when I am proven wrong.
3 scenarios for Melendez if and when he comes to the ufc.
1. He gets a top contender fight (bad idea)
2. He immediately gets a unification title fight if he is still the champion( bad, bad - very bad idea )
3. He gets a so call easy fight ( still a bad idea because the depth of the LW division in the ufc is so deep and filled with talent - A ufc LW whose ranking is seated at 15 - 20 is still a very good fighter and will definitely not be an easy win for Melendez )

the amount of stupidity on this thread is unbearable.
That being said because I didn't specify who im referring to I should not be addressed by the mods.
But if you have eyes and can read you should be able to tell who I'm referring to.

I dunno, i think Kawajiri, Aoki, Thomson, & Guida are all capable of jumping into the UFC's LW division successfully. Only time will tell.

LOL im the only one to vote Jorge. I do want him to win but Gilbert is probably a little too polished for him, especially considering ive seen drug dealers work harder than jorge does during training.

Jorge does have really nice hands. Very fluid, good reach, stinging power. The fact that Paul Daley took him down so much has me worried about what Gilbert can do if things get tough on the feet.

Here is my prediction of Melendez's mma career.
1. Strike Force folds 2. Melendez signs with ufc 3. Suffers 3 straight losses in a row 4. Eventually gets cut
On paper, Melendez may be seated second or third but that is only because Strike Force does not have a stacked LW division like the ufc. IMO, Melendez will lose to LW gate keepers in the ufc.
Here is a list of UFC LW fighters who I think should be able to win against Melendez.
1. Bocek 2. Cerrone 3. Danzig 4. Dunham 5. Edgar 6. Edwards 7. Furgerson 8. Fisher 9. Gomi 10. Guida 11. Guillard 12. Henderson 13. Lauzon 14. Lentz 15. Maynard 16. C Miller 17. J Miller 18. C. Oliveira 19. Pettis 20. Sherk 21. Sotiropulous 22. Stout 23. Tibau
Don't see him ever being a champ in the UFC or even earning a title shot really, but I think he can beat at least half of this list.

If you arnt trolling you must be very new to the sport. I would say at least 90% of these dudes would get obliterated by Melendez. Most of these fights would seriously scare me. Fighter safety is of utmost importance and throwing someone like Furgeson in a fight with Melendez would in no way be remotely safe.
