A week after Zuffa released Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem from his contract, three of Overeem's Golden Glory teammates have also been cut, including former women's champion Marloes Coenen.
Golden Glory's Martin de Jong wrote on Twitter that Coenen, heavyweight John Olav Einemo and Overeem's brother Valentijn Overeem were all released by Zuffa.
There's clear tension at the moment between Golden Glory and Zuffa, the parent company of both the UFC and Strikeforce. Although Zuffa can point to the fact that Coenen, Einemo and Valentijn Overeem were all coming off losses, cutting them all and also cutting Alistair Overeem suggests that Zuffa doesn't want to deal with Golden Glory (which functions as both a gym and a promoter) at all.

Oh, the promoter part at the end made sense. Otherwise I was like  , you just cut an ex-champ who just lost her title over the weekend.

zuffa and their power control..u either fall in line or else..i'm glad ppl like overeem still stand up for themselves..like overeem said in his video, he doesnt like to be pushd around..and for zuffa to cut coenen..it's a sign that women mma is soon to fade out..cybor hasnt fought in over a yr, there's no real challengers for tate, who knows when gina is comin back..after tate defends her belt again kaufman, i'm sure tate will be on the bench like cybor has been, playin the waitin game..

With these cuts by zuffa, they made an already thin roster even thinner. Coenen seems to be a casualty of the bad blood between the two sides and that's unfortunate. They all had the bad fortune of being with golden glory during a time zuffa wants nothing to do with them. It truly is unfortunate. Bad week for Coenen

Wouldnt surprise me if they were also doing this to alienate Overeem...If I were the UFC that would be my main focus...Overeem hes the guy who you want the HW divison just needs more guys in the UFC...the promoter stuff makes sense but I dont even see that as a factor after UFC made an example out of M1...point is I mean every other promotion already knows UFC isnt gonna work with u....
So I amleaning they are so mad at Overeem they will say guilty by assocaiation...

They are getting rid of the rotten apples. Overeem has far too much baggage for Zuffa....maybe the whole GYM/Promotion has too much baggage for Zuffa as well. I am actually happy we won't have to deal with Overeem anymore. The guy is completely overrated and he walks around like he is god. Bye, bye....good riddance.

man i was starting to forget how ruthless the UFC can be, But yea they dont deal with other promotions so kinda not surprised but i never though Overeem would go to the UFC cause of how much he likes fightin in Japan. Also i do not think he is overrated n would be a good add to the UFC Hw div but prb wont happen

Valentijn I understand, but Einemo and Coenen? Ridiculous. At least Joe put on a great show in his UFC debut.... Glad to hear Kharitonov hasn't been cut.

The man who was able to compete and win against highlevel K-1 fighters and even won the k-1 grand prix. The man who was the defending heavyweight champ. He's overrated alright.
I remember all that talk about how he would smash cain............

Politics aside, how can you cut one of the most exciting fighters in the division and screw up the womens division even more. I can deal with Einemo and Valentjin but cmon, Coenen needs to be around now that Cyborg and Gina are on hiatus indefinitely and Overeem needs to unify the SF and UFC titles.
This is complete crap.
