Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (10-1) is a small guy headed to the big stage. On that stage, he’ll meet a fighter with reflexes like that of a cat in UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

The two are slotted to meet in the main event at UFC on Versus 6 in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 1. The challenger is excited to get the chance to, in his view, be the first to “beat” Cruz in a fight.

Cruz has never been beaten? Wait, what?

I'm a huge fan of both fighters but mighty mouse doesn't really have alot of ways to win this fight. Picket showed us how johnson being undersized will harm him against the bigger 135ers. He is vulnerable to being tossed around because of his size. Its funny johnson has excellent take downs but his take down D needs improvement. Since pickett he hasn't been exposed because he's fought fighters with out wrestling backgrounds. (pace page kid and miguel). Now he's fighting one of the better wrestlers in the division. I expect cruz a big 135 to really toss johnson around thru out this fight. But to be fair johnson is a natural flyweight so from here on we shouldn't expect to much out of him.

Johnson has amazing takedown speed, if he can get it to the ground on the regular, it will greatly improve his chances

Speed vs. Speed. This is going to be a ridiculous fight, and I could definitely see Mighty Mouse taking him down for 5 rounds. On the same token, I can see Dominick killing him on the feet and evading takedowns for 5 rounds.

IMO Johnson is no quicker than faber....Especially on the feet but takedowns either..>This is a one sided affair...

I actually considered the fight with Torres a draw being Torres was trying submissions all night while Johnson just hung on...But hey I knew the judges would see it the way it went...

Cruz all day....This 50 - 25

Johnson has what it takes to make it fun, but nothing more. His overall game is pretty good but Cruz is just on another level.

Cruz wins this by Unanimous Decision.

Dam I was all over that...50 -25 bet.. Cruzs reach will also help him sprawl...theres a reason this fight is free even as a title fight...This will be embarrassing....I actually think Torres Matched up way better...

Torres is vulnerable against the shorter guys who can get low qickly but the way Cruz stands that would be a great fight....

I think Cruz is probably the better fighter simply because of his technique but i think Mouse stands a chance.. a good chance

With Cruz's lateral movement that Demetrious' previous opponents haven't used to stop his speedy takedowns, his reach advantage, another level striking, and great TDD, it's hard to see this fight being close at all.

Last 5 Fights (72 minutes for Demetrious, 110 minutes for Cruz)
Demetrious: 392-217 Strikes (but outstruck in most recent fight by Torres 95-63)
Dominick: 543-225 Strikes (domination across the board)

Demetrious: 26-14 Takedowns (Out-Took-down Pace/Kid/Torres; couldn't versus Pickett/Damacio)
Dominick: 24-3 Takedowns (22-3 over 100 minutes against Faber/Benavidez/Jorgensen)

Demetrious: 14-21 Guard passes (He averages a pass for barely half of his TD's while his opponents average 3 passes per TD)
Dominick: 8-0 Guard passes (Has not had an opponent pass his guard in 7 fights!)

Mighty Mouse is not a submission threat to Cruz (1 attempt in over 72 Octagon minutes), his opponents pass his guard 6(!) times more often than he passes theirs so what can he do even if he were to do what better wrestlers than him haven't been able to do and get Cruz on his back? But if Cruz gets him down, Demetrious has had his guard passed 21 times in the last 5 fights versus zero for Cruz. Demetrious has 46% TDD (Cruz is an almost double 83%) and Cruz's striking defense, combos, footwork, and variety of attacks are all huge leaps above Demetrious, as the fighters stand today.

I know Mighty Mouse arguably/probably deserves it after his questionable decision win over Torres but Cruz will win the takedown battle and ground positioning battle (if he wants it to be there) and he'll light him up like a Christmas tree on the feet.

I see nothing at all to make me think Mighty Mouse has more than a punchers chance a la Serra but I know he has the heart to go 25.

Long post, but the striking, takedowns, and guard passing stats may stick out to you more than you would've previously thought they would especially if you were to factor in level of competition as well.

And don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of both fighters as Demetrious is a big local fan favorite where I live; it's just a horrible horrible fight for him.
