Emelianenko addressed the super fight and its eventual stoppage after Saturday's Showtime-televised event at Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

"It seems to me, yes (it was stopped early)," he said through translator and M-1 executive Steve Bash. "It seems to me objectively, I was ready to continue fighting."

I don't blame him for wanting to continue. Hell, he possible could have continued...but it doesn't change the fact that the Herb made the right decision.

This is the best angle I've seen of the stoppage. You can clearly see that Fedor went out. Herb runs up and confirms it. When he goes to break them up, Fedor then comes to. I was only 95% sure previously, but this angle seals the deal for me.

Early stoppage in my book. I was absolutely shocked when Herb jumped in between them. Fedor may have hit the canvas face first but his legs were moving and he recovered very quickly. No way the fight should have been stopped.

What about those illegal blows to the back of the head by Hendo???

Fedor got hit with a shot he didn't see coming, went limp and fell face first into the mat and had one of the better grapplers on top of him ready to drop more bombs if needed.

Justified stoppage IMO

i dont know how anyone can say that wasnt a justified stoppage, herb has to make split second decisions and if he didnt rush in to stop the fight when a fighter goes limp what do you stop it for. watch the fight and look at how rocked fedor was after hendo got off of him

I don't understand how this is still a debate. He was clearly out and didn't start coming to till Herb jumped in and Dan stopped hitting him. Its sad that some of these die hard Fedor fans would rather see him get seriously injured rather than lose a fight.

He got popped good with that uppercut, hit the ground, went limp and then came out of it. I've seen more suspect calls then that, could have gone either way

anybody that disagrees with that stoppage is a complete retard and would be a terrible referee

So now anybody with an opinion opposing yours is mentally handicapped? That's reasonable.

Not that I disagree with the stoppage, because I feel it was fair, but i've seen almost every ref out there let fights go when other fighters have been in a similar or worse position than Fedor was.

Definitely a justified stoppage in my book. It was very clear that after that uppercut Fedor went limp and was out; yes he did recover quickly but that is the textbook definition of when to stop the fight and Herb Dean, the best ref in the business, made the right call.

We have all seen questionable stoppages and even downright terrible stoppages but we all know that realistically this was not one of them...

It looks like his elbow is flopping when he is on the ground! He's intelligently defending himself! Terrible stoppage!!!

After watching the fight again, I'm half and half and can agree with both sides. Yes, Fedor was out for a second and face planted, but he recovered very quickly and while his face was on the canvas you can see his shoulder and arm moving to try and block Henderson's next few strikes, then he rolls over. Even if some guys go out, they recover very quickly. For example, look back to the Kongo/Barry fight. Barry had Kongo OUT twice standing, but Kongo recovered and gained consciousness quickly and continued, Fedor looked like he did the same. Some guys just recover quickly.

In my opinion, I think Fedor could have continued for a little longer, only to be knocked out by Henderson later on.
