"Big Frog" is returning to the UFC.

More than seven years and exactly 26 fights since his lone trip to the octagon, 33-year-old bantamweight Jeff Curran (33-13-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has signed a multi-fight deal to return the UFC.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today learned of the signing from sources close to the fighter.

He's expected to fight at a fall UFC event.

This doesn't make sense to me. He went 0-1 in the UFC, and 1-4 in the UFC. Under Zuffa, he's 1-5. I don't understand the reasons behind bringing him back.

1 - They're building the BW division.
2 - He's 4-1 in his last 5 fights.
3 - He has a bit (although minimal) of name recognition.
4 - See #1.

I like it. The guy was a pioneer for these lighter weight classes and when he was in his fighting prime the ufc didn't explode the way it has now. He had to fight at 155. Now he can get a go at his weight class. He wants one last run in the big show before he hangs up the gloves. Classy move by the UFC.

This is pretty obvious to me....Its time to start chipping away at the bellator organization...Next will be Pat Curran...Only a matter of time before Bellator goes...

After the rash of injuries its pretty obvious that the UFC wants to be the NBA of MMA and let all other org be feeders for them...

as do I. IMO he will do better in the ufc now that he has a chance to fight guys at his natural weight

Wish I knew about this when I was just at the Bellator event this past weekend. He was standing next to me taking pictures of the Arena, and I didn't realize it was him till he was walking away.
Could be a good signing for the UFC. His brother has been looking great, so I expect it to help Jeff as well. The two could do big things in 2011/2012.

Still don't understand why they released LC Davis before the merger.
