For the first time maybe ever(?), Matt Hughes will be going into a UFC bout and leaving the Octagon without a job or contract after not wanting to sign an extension due to possible retirement.
If he loses to Diego Sanchez at UFC 135 what do you think he does ?
If he beats Diego Sanchez at UFC 135 what do you think he does ?

Agreed. He strikes me as the type that wants to go out on his own terms whether it's a win or a loss.
I think this is it and that sucks. He gets a lot of crap from MMA fans but I've always been a semi-fan of his.

You never watched him fight on TV? Ever
I hope Matt grinds Diego into coffee grounds and then fades off into the sunset with his John Deere tractor

Not necessarily on his own terms, but he definately knows when he can't compete anymore.. screw all the fans that give him crap for it. the man is a legend and damn fine coach. He may not know when he needs to quit, but he's certainly doing fine now. hes not an egomaniac and is willing to fight competition equal to his current ability. he knows he won't be a title holder but he's never gonna stop competing

This will all make zero sense when I change my avatar back, assuming the Mariners ever win.

When it broke out in april that a possible hughes vs sanchez in denver was gonna happen. I booked my flight that week for denver I have seen hughes fight only once live and want to see him fight again before he retires He has done a lot for the ufc like lidell and couture If he loses he will retire but I will be glad to see him fight his last fight live If he wins I think one more fight for him and hopefully redemption in fighting against dennis hallman his last fight I hope neither guy bows out before the fight but I do know If hallman wins against ebersole and sanchez pulls out of fight
Hughes vs hallman will happen!!! And if hughes pulls out. I think a sanchez vs winner of lytle/hardy could happen Or rematch with kammpman

I'd like to think it's possible, but Hughes has said he has zero interest in a 3rd match, Dana White has said he has no interest in matching them up again, and Hallman has said they'd have to pay him significantly more than $25k to show and $25k to win, basically approaching Hughes type money which is probably 10 times higher than his current contract, or he wouldn't agree to fight Hughes again.
I'd never count anything out in MMA, but it seems like neither fighter nor the promotion want that fight to happen, only the fans.

True. Its hard to believe why hughes would not wanna face a guy who beat him twice And hallman may want more money but if ufc always says give the fans what they want. Hughes vs hallman should happen. Then again AJ vs howard never came to be and the fans wanted that one as well

I don't see a need for Hallman/Hughes 3. It's not a rubber match. Hallman is up 2-0. I have no desire to see it. I already know who the better fighter of the two is.
