Dan Henderson doesn't want to leave Strikeforce but 'there is a chance' he may never defend his light heavyweight title |

After July 30, Dan Henderson's Strikeforce light heavyweight title could be nothing more than a piece of gold "Hendo" never got much use of.
Parish the thought.
That's because "Dangerous" Dan's contract is up after his bout against Fedor Emelianenko next Saturday night and now that the UFC has purchased Strikeforce, the negotiating table suddenly isn't so friendly.

If I remember correctly, Hendo does well in his last matches of his contracts (See: Pride 33, UFC 100). I am a big Fedor fan, but personally I hope Hendo wins.
I know that even if he wins against Fedor in outstanding fashion, that still might not help his bargaining position. I just hope he stays with Strikeforce or the UFC, and continues his great career where he should, in the major leagues.

I think if it came down to Dana he would sign him.. i have a feeling this is an issue about dan not liking dana rather than strictly a $$ issue

The thought of Henderson not fighting in a Zuffa run organization would be a shame. He's such a legend of the sport. Beating Fedor is still pretty big in my eyes and if he does in fact beat him, I don't see how that's not a huge bargaining chip. From what I remember regarding the negotiations after the Bisping fight, Henderson wanted more money then Dana wanted give him and that's where the talks stopped, with Henderson eventually signing with Strikeforce. Now that Strikeforce is Zuffa run and Hendo's contract is up, seems like were exactly where we were after UFC 100. I just hope Dana gives Henderson what he deserves so we can continue to watch him knock fools out

I think its at heavyweight. Hendo will only be giving up 15-20 pounds. Fedor was actually one of the lighter heavyweights

Dana will do whatever it takes to not have Hendo rematch with Silva. when i met Hendo in Toronto the night before 129, he said that was one of the big reasons why they didnt come to terms on a new contract.

I hope they work it out cause we need more of Dan and it would be so sad if he never gets to defend that belt.

I really think this is just a preamble to some bargaining thats about to go on between Zuffa and Henderson.....the guy is outstanding in both the LHW and the MW divisions.....he would probably stay at LHW though as he no longer likes cutting the weight. Maybe he would to get a rematch with Silva who after Yushin will not have anything left to do in the MW division again.
