It’s over, finally after weeks of pontification by many fans and experts, the question was seemingly answered, did Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s highly-anticipated match-up prove to be the savior of boxing in the eyes of the general public?

"To me the records were just a starting point," recalls John Paul Jones, "The most important thing was always the stage show. So many great nights. At our worst we were still better than most. At our best we could just wipe the floor with the lot of them. It was just a very good live band."

Apperantly it was a good fight, but how many people actually watched it and how many people just checked the results the next day? If that was boxings last chance, it did about as well as France's big stand in WWII. MMA is the sport of the future, and the present.

I want to see any boxing card, the best that they can currently throw at us, go up against the card UFC has set up for 73, and we'll truly see what is up in the world of combat sports.
