Zuffa Threatens To Pull Overeem Out of Strikeforce Grand Prix
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on Monday's edition of MMAFighting.com's "The MMA Hour", Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair "The Reem" Overeem (35-11-0-1) had some shocking news to share, as he confirmed that he has been "threatened" by Zuffa to be pulled from the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix if he does not comply with a scheduled September 10th date to compete in the semi-finals vs. Antonio Silva.

"Stikeforce has requested me to accept the fight for Sept. 10, to agree on that, but I have not agreed on it and I also had some emails, some questions asked, is the fight confirmed? No, the fight is not confirmed. I do not confirm it and I will not confirm it," said Overeem...

I dont know why Overeem would have a problem fighting then.

It's not like he fought last time.

Or maybe he thinks Big foot is going to beat him.

Well how fair is it that Silva gets months and months of rest and a full camp while Overeem has to go from camp to fight right back into camp again.

I think the UFC is just in a hurry to end strikeforce....errr I mean the Strikeforce Grand Prix.

I wouldn't doubt the reason he won't agree yet is because of a steroids cycle. I have every pride dvd ever made and towards the end he beefed up a bit but nothing like he looks now

Hopefully this thread doesn't turn to bashing Overeem. Can't really blame him for being upset.

Originally, Overeem said, he agreed on an October return to the cage to face Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in the next round of the tournament. He claimed he needed that time to recover from his last fight — a three-rounder with Fabricio Werdum in the quarterfinals, which he said he went into with a broken toe — as well as to properly prepare for Silva.

Recently he was informed that Strikeforce was targeting the date in early September, which Overeem deemed “too short notice,” and rejected. Then the backlash from his new employers began, he said.

I was telling a friend at work today.... "If Zuffa and Overeem slam heads on this issue and they do axe him".... Watch the online MMA community turn on Overeem.... Roids, Overrated, etc. Blah Blah ..... and for what? Is this little peice not important here?

So pile on boys... one thing for sure is the Grand Prix just got a whole lot less interesting.

This article should be linked to MMAFighting.com, AddictedMMA.com never has their own news so why do we keep having people link to their re-postings and re-edits?

Seems like we should have a rule in the MMA News Share Forum to only link to the original article so that warnings can be sent out when links go to re-postings that have been edited.

He's been here 1 month and every single post is to that website....Hmm, I wonder if he has a vested interest in it?
