Not exactly breaking news ... more of a confirmation of what's long been thought to be the case.
Rich Franklin, despite his build and natural body type, has seen his last days in the middleweight division. For the remainder of his career, he will compete at 205-pounds, as he tells MMA Weekly:

I figured him to move up and stay at 205. Maybe he was sick of cutting weight. Im guessing 205 is closer to what he walks around at, he maybe walks around at 215....probably more comfortable for him.

I always tough he cut more than that. but still he will always be stuck at number 2 at MW, Anderson has his number but man I loved watching anderon/rich 2. he was one of the few guys willing to engage anderson. I feel at 205 he will always be on verge of being near the top but never reach it. at least 205 he has more ppl to face

Disagree, Rich is still a huge LHW....it's a misconception.

He's definitely not a huge LHW. He's about average for LHW, 6' 1" or thereabouts.

disagree, did you you see how much bigger griffin was then franklin. It doesn't have to do with just width. Franklins a shorter LHW

Well, Forrest at 6'3 is a monster LHW......Rich @ 6'1 is not small by any means. With the exception of Bones & Bonnar, everyone looks small compared to Griffin.

I think Rich recognizes that his chances of holding a title in either division are slim.
205 makes more sense as the division is deeper and there are more fights available to him that will get him PPV or main card time.

I'd prefer to see him stick with middleweight. I just can't see him breaking into the upper levels of light heavyweight, with the likes of Griffin, Machida, Shogun, Rampage, Jones, Evans, etc.
But, if he's going to stay in the division anyway, I'd like to see him fight Ortiz.
