They wanted it, and now they'll get it.
Melvin Guillard and Joe Lauzon are now set to meet at UFC 136, which takes place Oct. 8 at Houston's Toyota Center.
Lauzon confirmed the bout via his personal blog after recently accepting a challenge from Guillard in the press.

Not a big fan of this match up. Dont get me wrong it will be a good fight....but Guillard has won like 5 or 6 in a row and Lauzon has only won 1. Guillard is a top 5, he needs to fight a top 5. With that said....Guillard via nasty KO round 1.

I agree completely.

Lauzon deserves some credit for taking this fight. Granted, he should, as it is his job. And while J-Lau looks like a nasty dude when fighting the Curt Warburtons and Gabe Ruedigers of the world, it will be interesting to see what happens in this fight. Guillard is a whole different level of fighter.
Having said that, this will also be a good test for Guillard. He's calling out everybody. He's looking awesome in his last fights. Lauzon is a smart fighter, and it will be a good gauge for where Guillard's cage IQ is at this point.
I want to say it's high. Melvin is with a phenomenal camp. I don't know if I'd say he's patient right now. But confident, yes. He clearly didn't give a **** about Roller out there, and just fought him with a complete disdain for his skill set. He destroyed Roller as a result.
But can he come out with the same abandon in this fight? Remember, Guillard's last loss was against my boy, Nasty Nate Diaz via Triangle. Can Lauzon catch Guillard slipping? Is Guillard really beyond making such mistakes? I can't wait to find out.
PS- This card went from non-existent to STACKED in a day. I'm excited for 136 and 137!!

As it stands now, I don't know about Guillard-Miller with the schedule shaping up as it is... Should Miller get past Henderson, I see him getting the next shot at the winner of Edgar-Maynard 3. Something tells me Miller might be willing to wait 4-5 months after the Bendo fight to finally get a crack at the title.
Guillard, should he get past Lauzon, will probably have to take one more, probably on the same card as Miller-Edgar/Maynard.
Edit: That's how I hope it goes down anyway...

It's funny, I like everyone in it, but I've never seen it. I just wanted something that said "It's Miller Time", lol.
For the record, it is indeed Jim Miller's time!

The miller boys are always game for a good ol' scrap. The two of them would fight anyone just as long as it gets them up the ladder quicker. Their formed in the mold of chuck. And I know you all can appreciate that.

I'm taking Joezon via sub.
Anyways, who else is Melvin going to face? He would have to wait for a higher ranked opponent. And well Melvin prolly wants to fight again soon as he is fresh and coming off that first round win.
Just on a different note, I was looking at all the 155er's and was thinking how cool it would be to see Guillard vs Njokuani later at some point.
