Love that technique. Triangle is my favourite. I'd love to see Maia hit that on him. I'm thinking he'll win a Decision but my pick may change before the event.

Exactly what I came here to say. Santiago can't cut it in the big leagues, in my opinion. He got absolutely murdered by Stann in his last fight, and was quoted as saying he didn't take the fight seriously. This guy is a joke.
Maia has made more of an improvement after his title fight with Anderson Silva than anyone I can remember. After a loss like that, I think most guys will just drop a weight class or settle in to the gate keeper role. I see heart, and desire, and marked improvement. If he can improve his stand up further, he will do big things. Maybe not dethrone the champ, but with his world class BJJ, he could dominate most, I believe.
I think Maia is going to jack Santiago up, and send him back to the farm leagues.

I'm going to give Santiago some credit and say he lasts to a decision. Maia hasn't exactly been the BJJ black belt we've seen in the past, and I doubt he could knock Santiago out. Maia by Unanimous Decision.

It depends if they let Santiago wear his stunner shades during the fight.

I love Demian Maia but I couldn't disagree more on him improving.
I think working on stand-up was the worst idea he ever had. He has no business on the feet and now he feels confident enough there that he doens't have the same urgency to get it to the ground. He should stop striking now and go back to 100% jiu jitsu training.
