It's official. Lyoto Machida will step in on less than a month's notice to face Rashad Evans in the main event at UFC 133. He will replace Phil Davis, who was forced out of the fight with a knee injury. Matt Roth broke the news just a few minutes ago over at HeadKickLegend, and the UFC is expected to confirm in the next few minutes.

I'll be rooting for Machida for once. I hope we get the same result as the first fight.

Seems like everyone in comments section of the article is looking past Evans due to Machida knocking him out the first go around. While I too think Machida will win, I can't sleep on Evans. In their first fight Evans went straight into Machida's gameplan. He mentioned it in the post fight interviews too, that he was stupid to play into Machida's counter striking style. I'm interested to see how this turns out.

I like it better than the Davis fight.
Way to save the main event

This is more of a toss-up than the Davis fight, but I'm just happy Rashad is finally fighting someone.

Whaaaaaa? That's awesome (not that Davis is injured). Much better fight and I now have Rashad losing which is never a bad thing.

Interesting in there Machida says he was preparing for Bader, but Bader then lost to Ortiz.

Would be cool if they could make this 5 rounds.

This is great news. I said it before and I'll say it again - IMO, the only fighter who may be able to challenge for the LHW title is probably Machida at this point.

I love Sugar Rashad but Machida needs to win this fight in order for us to see this showdown between him and Bones.

Much happier with this fight then the davis-evans fight for the simple fact that Rashad will come in with a better gameplan. With loses now on machidas record to disect, Evans can find confidence in his standup that he didn't have in the first fight. I still have machida winning by UD, but at least Evans will get it there

Rashad is going to do the stanky leg again!

Machida has the momentum of the karate kid KO behind him; as well as what I feel would be a mental edge on account of having previously killed Rashad's hopes and dreams.

Lets see if Rashad has any success closing the pocket this time.
