An intriguing welterweight scrap between undefeated prospect Tyron Woodley (8-0 MMA, 6-0 SF) and British slugger Paul Daley (27-10-2 MMA, 2-1 SF) won't be for a title, but the winner of the July 30 bout could find himself competing for a belt before year's end.

I wonder who they're going to put the winner against for the title? I'd like to see High get another win and then challenge for it.

Yeah, it's interesting as the winner will fight for the title, but there's no title holder.

Apparently Strikeforce is on the verge of signing a huge Welterweight prospect. (i.e. Nate Marquardt) and that person will be probably debut fighting for the title.

too bad SF and Bellator wont be co-promoting a card anytime soon

I don't know why they don't just make this fight for the title. Woodley was being talked about as the next challenger for the title, since Nick Diaz had pretty much cleaned out SF's WW division.

If they did make this for the title, it might garner some more eyeballs. And when they do sign that big name, just bring him in for the immediate title shot and get even more eyeballs. Just my two ¢

Do you guys think Zuffa would sign Nate to SF? I don't think they will.

That may be true but it might not be. Dana said Nate is out of the ufc, that's all he said. And part of the deal with Zuffa buying strikeforce is that they'll still be competing for fighters and signing for their own orgs. Strikeforce picking up Marquardt is actually a decent move for Zuffa. The ufc looks good by letting Marquardt go for steroids but at the same Zuffa holds on to a guy that would benefit other orgs. PED use or not, Marquardt is a big name in the mma world.

That might just be me stoned thinking too hard but that's what I think will happen.

I've been waiting for a while to see Woodley get his big break. He's going to wreck Paul Daley.

Actually, in one of his interviews, Dana laughed and said, "...and don't even ask me about Strikeforce..." when talking about Marquardt.

I see no way in hell that Marquardt signs with Strikeforce. That has "PR Nightmare" written all over it.
