Late this summer, Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski looks to prove he's not all bark and no bite.
Leo Khorlinsky, the former UFC heavyweight champion's manager, today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that the fighter will headline the first offering of the newly revamped ProElite on Aug. 27 at Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu. Broadcast plans for the event have yet to be announced.
Khorlinsky said a tentative opponent is in place for the late summer show, though bout agreements have yet to be signed. Arlovski (15-9) begins training early next week at Greg Jackson's academy in Albuquerque, N.M.

They need to match him up properly. No heavy strikers. The last thing I want to see is Arlovski laid out again.

Don't you think when you get to the point where you can't fight any strikers anymore without getting starched, its time to hang them up?
I mean I enjoy watching Arlovski as much as anyone in the HW division but if he can't hang with strikers in a feeder org like Pro Elite than its time to pack it in.
I don't think organizations should schedule fights to give one fighter an edge over another, if Arlovski is headlining their show, give him the best HW you've got and hope you either build him into a star or Arlovski gets back on track and you can find him a new opponent.

Oh obviously I feel like he should retire. I thought he should retire before the Kharitonov fight but the guy is stubborn and refuses to call it quits so if they're going to have him headline their returning show and he's the first fighter they announce, yeah, they should match him up appropriately.

I used to love watching Arlovski fight but I wish he would retire, he doesn't even fight to win anymore, it's all about not getting knocked out, everybody knows it.

I'm very interested to see if ProElite makes it big since Stratus Media Group now owns 95% of them and is publicly traded.
Finally an MMA organization that will have to publicly disclose their books.

Big Timmay 4, Benutallo 2, Gilbert Yvel, or Todd Duffee would be good competitive 50/50 fights
Rather have him then some bum that's easy work for Arlosvki. He needs one but I don't think thats the best way to start your company back out having an easy squash mash as the main event.

Hell yeah, I think Arlovski would KO the Sylvia of 2011. Make it happen.

Good choices. I for one would choose Yvel. I'm thinking this would be the most competitive bout. Seeing him against Big Tim again would be cool.
