Personal feelings will not impair Tito Ortiz from getting a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame, this according to UFC President Dana White.

How about his lack of accomplishments?

Other than being popular, he never did anything to earn a Hall of Fame spot. I guess "helping build the sport" is something.

Yeah, I can see him getting a spot.

But, I'm just ready to stop hearing about Ortiz already, unless he finishes or dominates Bader.

He was the longest reining Light Heavyweight Champion, and was pretty feared back in the day. Made the sport popular for mainstream along with Chuck and Randy, and he was the UFC's first real "villian."

I'm no Tito fan by any means but he did hold the LHW belt for longer than anyone in UFC history, and he also has the most successful title defences of anyone at LHW.
He is tied for 3rd most all time with Matt Hughes with 5.

He's earned his spot as much as Chuck or Shamrock.

Yeah, he was popular. Probably the first huge star they had.

But c'mon. He defended his title 5 times, which is still a LHW Record. He was dominating everyone he faced while he did it too. If you judge him by his last few years, then no, he doesn't deserve it. But if you do that with Chuck Liddell, Ken Shamrock and Mark Coleman, they don't deserve it either.

Of course, those 3 deserve it, and so does Tito, because he's accomplished as much, if not more, than those guys did.

well people have already mentioned that he was the longest reigning and most dominant champions at 205, and he also broke numerous PPV records headlining events (usually his own). He has been the headliner of the most purchased PPV in the history of the UFC like 3 or 4 times, and he was usually breaking his own records.

His Rivalries with Liddell and Shamrock were at the epicenter of MMA when it was growing and played a pretty huge part in the growth of the sport. Everyone doesn't know who Lyoto Machida is, but if you go down the street and ask people about Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, most people will probably know who you're talking about.

And he survived being married to Jenna. That is fighting a lot of illnesses at once. All joking aside he definitely deserves a spot.

My sarcasm was not as obvious as I intended it to be. Perhaps I should have put italics around the word "something" in my original post.

Chuck, Tito, and Randy are the most important fighter this sport has ever had. Chuck (IMO the most important) would be nothing with out Tito. Their rivalry started his stardom.

I think Ken has less accomplishments than Teets Ortiz.

I kinda feel like watching some old ufc now. Maybe some Ken vs Teets all of them.

its always an easy tactic to say you were being sarcastic after the fact. if that was honestly your intent than you failed miserably. i think you just decided to backpedal after the subsequent posters made you look like an ass. tito belongs in the hall of fame.
