You can't always get what you want.

Former multiple promotion champion Jake Shields recently cast his line, fishing for a fight against B.J. Penn for his first fight inside the Octagon since his unanimous decision defeat against Georges St. Pierre this past April.

Unfortunately, he hit a snag and will not be going head on against "The Prodigy."

Instead, he's reeled in a "Juggernaut," as MMAFighting.com brings word that Shields will take on Jake Ellenberger later this year, likely at UFC 138 on Nov. 19 in San Jose.

Interesting fight. I guess that means Penn vs. Fitch 2 is happening then.

Ellenberger is a tough fight for anybody, and with Story losing last night a win probably gets Jake into title contention. I don't think Shields gets enough credit sometimes, but he's an elite fighter that will definitely be a great test for Jake, and probably has to be the favorite in this fight. Tough fight to pick.

Yeah you looked absolutely terrible last time out, definitely don't deserve to call no shots. I really hope Ellenberger knocks him out but probably gets LNP'd for 15min.

Yeah GSP was on like a 30 round win streak and Jake broke that streak by winning 2 rounds, he looked asbsoultely bad!

The fight was absolutely was pretty hard to watch and that's quite generous to even give him 2 rounds.

this would be a sweet fight. Ellenberger hits hard, if he connects as good as gsp did afew times, Shields may go out. Shields hasn't looked that great since coming to the UFC. Huge boost for Ellenberger if he wins.

Ellenberger vs. Rocha was a hugely disappointing fight and Shields will be vastly better at taking Ellenberger down unlike Rocha who worked him over the first 5 minutes with TD's and groundwork and then just stood with him for the final 10 minutes (and still arguably won).

Ellenberger only beats people who want to stand with him and his TDD isn't all that good.

Shields will choke him out.

When Shields came down from 185 to 170, I think he lost his speed and size, which may not come back. however, as much as Ellenberger rocks, he almost did not get by that bjj newcomer 2 fights ago. this is a hard fight to call, i think it will be Shields with a controversial ud similiar to his fight with Kampman.

its a shame Story lost, because in every division, it is becoming hard to find a clear contender these days.
everyone beats each other

what happened to Paulo Thiago getting a shot

they should give the ww with the most controversial losses the shot, ala Kampman
