A matchup pitting former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champ Gegard Mousasi (30-3-2 MMA, 2-1-1 SF) against Mike Kyle (18-8-1 MMA, 2-3-1 SF) could be headed to the promotion's fall lineup.
The pair were supposed to fight this past April at "Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley" before Kyle was forced to withdraw with a broken hand. In his place stepped Keith Jardine, who fought Mousasi to a draw.
The fight could take place at a yet-unnamed Strikeforce event slated for Sept. 10 that's expected to feature a middleweight title fight between current champ Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Luke Rockhold, though at this point, the date is not finalized.

Man, a rematch is not even necessary for that. That is one decision that should be protested and overturned for the dreamcatcher. He beat Jardine's ass so decisively, my mind is still boggled. I could've sworn I heard Jardine saying he won that fight too. That was Mousasi all goddamn day

I'd rather he just do it and beat his ass.

He only has himself to blame, all 3 judges had him winning the fight but the point deduction made it a draw on 2 cards.
I tend to agree with you on this one though, to me it would be like re-matching Jones vs Hamill, although one could argue that it would be closer if Jardine had a full training camp.

Gegards stock is falling after every single one of his fights. He may still be a top LHW/MW but no one can say he's lived up to expectations. Shame really.

Carlos, I couldn't agree more. I was thinking this as I typed my first response to this, but didn't want to admit it.

Mousasi is definitely not a top LHW. He has never beat anyone of quality at that weight. Drawing Jardine, who barely had anytime to prepare or get in shape, was just awful, and while Jardine got punched in the face a lot, I thought a draw was a fair decision based on Jardine's wrestling (has it ever looked that good?). The fact is that you cant compete at 205 without topnotch TD defense and Mousasi doesnt even have mediocre TD defense. I think Jardine would win a properly scheduled bout. That being said, I'd love to see Kyle-Mousasi because I'd love to see Mousasi get knocked out.

I agree. I just don't get the hype behind Mousasi. I can think of 10 LHW in the UFC who would beat him. I hope Kyle KO's him. He looked really good in that first round against Big Foot.

WAR MOUSASI!!!
(by the way, he's still only 25)
And...if this does happen...I'll avatar bet anyone that's willing. Mousasi will murder Kyle.

Mousasi had an interview with Josh Gross right before the Jardine fight and said he thought he got so good at wrestling he was one of the top wrestlers in the division....pretty funny after he made Jardine look like a great wrestler...

I'd have to see/hear this interview to believe he ever said that.
I think Mousasi could be a force at MW. He's young and has plenty of time to fix the holes in his game.
