Tito Ortiz has revealed to The Telegraph that he “begged the UFC for his job back” after he was jettisoned by the mixed martial arts organisation following his loss to Matt Hamill.

“Dana White and Joe Silva [the UFC's matchmaker] told me they wanted me to retire, but I knew I still had the fight inside me. I pretty much begged for my job, to show how much I want to fight, but I still have it in my heart to compete, to fight. I told them I want to still fight against the top guys, I want to put on a show.”

“I’ve just turned 36, but when they put me against the top guys, I think I can still compete.”

he "thinks" he can still compete. But we all "know" he can't. You've done well for the sport Tito - dont turn into a K. Shamrock

it's sad. the only reason i want to see Tito fight anymore is to see him get beat. thats not good. he needs to call it quits while he's still relativly healthy and enjoy his life. numerous things he can do within the sport for work. he hasn't won a fight in almost 5 years, and he thinks he can still compete. nah.

Poor Tito, he just doesn't get it....maybe he should fight Shamrock again, so he can stop his losing streak.

To be fair to him he has been taking tough fights and he hasn't looked terrible in any of them.

Tito lost his chance at redemption when he backed out of the Lil Nog fight. thats the only guy i can really see him beating in the top 10. if he wasnt so high on himself, he could build wins against the likes of Bonnar, Matyushenko, Brilz, Gustafson, Diabate, Soszynski, Cane, etc and legitimize his stay in the UFC

I don't think Tito is nearly as washed up as people are making him out to be.

He beat Rashad, or at least he would have has he not been penalized for fence grabbing, he lost a decision to Machida on his way to winning the title, then a split decision to Forrest who has always been floating around the top 10 of the division. His only loss that I think anyone can really argue is a sign of him being washed up is the loss to Hamill.

Granted he's not at the top of the heap or anything, but all of those people were 205 champions apart from Hamill. If you take into account the level of difficulty of his opponents and the fact that he's had some pretty serious back surgeries over the last couple of years the guy is really not looking that bad IMO.

I agree, Aether. I am not Tito's biggest fan, and I do think he should retire. But he has fought the cream of the crop, and it's not like he's been getting put to sleep every time.

" I took it as they didn't want to pay me, to give me what I'm worth."

And I'm a huge Bader fan, but does Tito honestly believe Bader is ranked in the top three?

exactly, it's not like he's getting dominated he's just losing very competitive fights. I'm not a fan but I think calling him washed up is a little premature.
