DALLAS – Alistair Overeem said he came into his rematch with Fabricio Werdum expecting fireworks and was disappointed when all he got was a sparkler.

In the end, the Strikeforce heavyweight champion won and advanced to the semifinals of the promotion's heavyweight grand prix. But the way he won it left a bad taste in his mouth, just as it did for most who witnessed the fight.

But those who say he bears some of the blame for the dud, Overeem says, are looking the wrong way.

"I came to fight," Overeem said. "But you need two to tango, so I'm a little bit disappointed. I want to deliver entertaining fights, and tonight was as little bit less entertaining."

That was a boring fight

It takes two people to fight. Every time Werdum got touched he fell to the ground. That's a good strategy, but when it was clear Overeem wasn't going to follow him down, he kept trying the same thing. It started looking kinda pathetic. If he wanted the guy on the ground it's his job to put Overeem there. That fight was a dud because of one fighter. Kinda gave a new meaning to "lay n pray"

yeah i dont understand werdum's strategy. it definetly was clear in the first round that not only was his strategy not working but there was no way he was gonna win the fight like that. he should have just went after overeem. hen at least he would have earned a loss and not just looked foolish. i was pretty disapointed with both fighters

Werdum didn't come to fight but at the same time Overeem put no pressure on him when they were standing probably because he was afraid to get taken down. Hopefully Overeem vs Big Foot provides more excitement.

I think Bigfoot is going to take him.
