DALLAS – Jorge Masvidal (22-6 MMA, 4-0 SF) emerged from his fight with K.J. Noons (10-4 MMA, 2-2 SF) a supremely confident guy.
Then again, that's not much of a change for the Florida-based fighter.
Not only did Masvidal dismantle a former title contender at "Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum," but he lined up a lightweight title shot against champ Gilbert Melendez. For all the ups and downs he's had in his career, this past Saturday's performance might have been the biggest win to date.
But Masvidal seemed to take it all in stride.

this guy Masvidal is good, im just let down that he promised to stand, and was going for the takedown right away,
those knees were nice, i think he should have kept it a kickboxing match, but
in a pure boxing match , i think KJ would have won a close ud, kj is tough as hell, and has the fighter spirit i admire. i also think his best weapon is the right hand which wasnt landing as well, as it did vs Gurgel.

I for some reason have always liked KJ, I think his style is fun to watch and he has great hands.
Masvidal had his number last night though and looked great. After KJ took that kick to the neck he was just out of it and it was all Masvidal after that.

I have been a huge fan of Jorge ever since I saw him fighting in the "backyard fights" on the internet. He looked really good against Noons. Noons on the other had didn't look so hot. He was swinging wildly and just couldn't reach Jorge. I think Noons is overrated so we might need to show some caution when it comes to boasting how good Jorge really is. If he faces Gilbert though, we will finally find out just how good he is.
