What would two more rounds have brought to Clay Guida vs. Anthony Pettis?

Would Guida (29-11 MMA, 9-5 UFC) have controlled Pettis (13-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the mat? Would Pettis have submitted Guida with a triangle? Would the "Showtime Kick" have made another appearance?

Guida has no idea. He had his hands plenty full for three rounds when they fought at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. But you'll never have to convince him that five-round non-title fights are a bad idea. He thinks they're just another chance to put some extra cash in his pocket.

Hmm I like the idea of changing the format for the headlining fights but unsure about an extra 2 rounds . .

How often do fights get finished in the fourth / fifth round? Rarely, it is likely to just prolong a decision and always give the advantage to the fitter / smaller fighter (which is often the ones that prefer decision wins)

Maybe they could change it to 5 x 3 minute rounds (or something else) to give the fighters more breaks which would provide more action when they are fighting. As long as it doesn't disadvantage ground fighters too much who need the time to get the submissions.

they need to fix the judging... if the judging is bad in a 3 round fight it will still be bad in a 5 round fight.

Now fights like Franklin Hendo would of benifited from 2 more rounds because Franklin was turning the tide and IMO got robbed n that fight and 2 more rounds would of showed him beating hendo. But a guida type fight where he does nothing but moves around a lot without actually doing anything but defending subs will not be differnt in 3 rounds as opposed to 3 because the judges see being on top as winning not matter what.

Defending while standing means you are lose, defending while being on top means you are winning. That is the issue that needs to be fixed.
