Roy Nelson obviously didn’t have the fight he was hoping for at UFC 130 against Frank Mir, losing by unanimous decision in the co-main event of the night.
Nelson struggled to deal with Mir’s size and power, as well as his wrestling, and by the third round the former “Ultimate Fighter” winner was noticeably gassed, but toughed it out until the fight was over.
The fight left a lot to be desired in the mind of UFC president Dana White, who seemed fairly unimpressed with both Nelson and Mir.

I don't think the weight is the only problem for Nelson. His striking didn't look that great, just really trying to land the one punch, overhand. I think Rogan pointed it out.
I know Nelson hasn't always taken training seriously previously.

he needs to do something drastic IMO. he cant just keep losing due to cardio. if that means lose a ton of weight and go to 205lb or try and turn it all into muscle, either way if keeps losing hes gonna get cut. the ufc is pretty quick to cut people these days. i for one dont want to see big country go but i also hate seeing him lose due to cardio everytime.

I think if he fought around 235, and lost some of that girth he would be much better off.

i think HW has changed too much for that...
It might be time to make a new weight class, 206-265 is a lot of room
if you look at the overall classes nothing is remotely close to that, the closest is 1/3 of that range with the difference in Middle Weight and Light Heavyweight
If they redid the weight to keep everything a 10 pound range i think we could get some interesting matches..
Think if there was a 195 class, some of the guys like Frankland that are too big for MW but too small for LHW would have a home, and break up HW so you do not have guys that are giving up 30+ pounds
With the way HW is you have basically the ability to have a guy like Jose Aldo fighting GSP... its unfair for someone GSPs size to fight someone Aldos size but its ok in the HW division

haha. We were all talking about this at the fight.
Kimbo must have been so furious. Roy basically held him down with his belly fat and punched him in the face.

I have to agree, but that may be do to a lack of confidence in his combos. And I think that he doesn't land them enough in practice mostly cause he's outta shape. I don't know if that is true, but its a possibility.

If Roy ever really wants to hold a title in any big MMA promotion he needs to reinvent himself. He has goof fundamentals in wrestling and BJJ, he needs to redo his striking, kinda like Kenny Florian did after the Sherk fight. He needs to complately redo his standup, he has KO power in his right hand but that is ALL he has, Mir exploited that. Avoid the right hand and Roy is useless on the feet.
