It appears the first major cross-promotional fight between the UFC and Strikeforce could be coming to a head within the next few days.

I hope it's not a prank because I am excited about this match. This is the fight I have been talking about for years. On paper, this should be GSP's toughest test besides Anderson Silva.
Within the welter weight division, if there is anyone who can give GSP a run for his money, it would be Diaz.

Im curious to see how active Georges is going to be in top control, Diaz poses very little threat to stand back up after the takedown.

Agreed. No matter how excited you get at the prospect of somone seriously challenging GSP for the title he just seems to do his thing. I can see Diaz getting finished in this one. I will still be looking forward to it though.

Gsp will be able to take Nick Diaz down at will. Diaz hasn't been up against the top guys, and if this fight materialises, it will show. His wrestling D is gonna be exposed if it happens.

I'd love to see this fight but I expect it to look something like Sanchez/Diaz.

Sorry, got Bob Marley in my head for some reason
I just wonder, if this were to materialize, what kind of card would it be? A Strikeforce/ UFC cross promoted card?

Would you agree GSP's toughest competition thus far has been Penn? We know Hughes and Serra has gotten lucky with their fights against GSP, but as far competition is concerned, Penn has given GSP the most trouble.
With that being said, GSP has never faced a tall Jiu Jitsu and striker opponent like Diaz.
GSP will be able to take Diaz down or course, but Diaz should be able to defend rather well with his long arms and legs.
I am not saying Diaz will win but what I am saying is Diaz will pose a lot of threats and challenges which GSP has never had to deal with before in the octagon.
This fight may turn out to be another GSP walk-a-thon but I sincerely hope that is not the case. What I want to see is for GSP to be tested. So far he hasn't really been tested except for when he fought Penn in which he eventually figured out and overcame Penn's threats.

Penn got railroaded at UFC 94, absolutely man-handled and out classed. At no point did he even look like he had a chance. In the first fight Penn poked him in the eye in Rd 1 leading to some shots landed for sure, Rds 2 and 3 were all GSP heart. Serra tagged GSP behind the ear with a shot and yeah you could say lucky punch or whatever, but he thew it, it landed and he followed up in hurry...as for the Hughes armbar, hows that lucky?
We always hear the GSP has never faced a fighter that has the combination of this discipline and that skill, every potential fight, its hilarious.....I still say Kos or Fitch run threw Diaz, but why not throw him up the ladder, St. Pierre all day.
